  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife and I are seriously considering the purchase of a 2015 Genesis, 3.8 RWD with either the Tech or Ultimate Package. We test drove the car, and I liked the ride and the way it handled. But we have three issues:
1. My wife is concerned that the air conditioning might be inadequate. Is the refrigerant in new cars less effective than that in older cars?
2. She also thinks that the passenger seat is not as comfortable as that in our current 2002 Acura RL. Specifically, she thinks the seat cushion is too short front-to-back, even though she is not particularly tall.
3. Can I get it in my garage? Hyundai say the car’s width is 74.4 inches, but that excludes those big mirrors. How wide is the car, including the mirrors with the mirrors extended?

We will appreciate any comments or information you may have regarding these concerns.

My car has the V8, but:

1. The A/C is fine - they are still using the R134a refrigerant that was introduced in the early 90's. There is a new refrigerant coming soon, though, from what I read. But, again for now the A/C is ok and I have been an epa licensed A/C tech for many years - for what it's worth.

If you want still more cooling, push the recirculate button - this was automatically done with the "Max." button on older GM cars.

2. The seat question? Hyundai must have heard you coming - my car has a power seat extender for just the problem you envision. Push the button - set it the way you want.
addendum: only on the driver's side, though.

3. The mirrors? It doesn't seem to me that they extend any further than on other cars that I have owned. But again, Hyundai seems to have seen you coming. The outside mirrors have power retractors and the controls are quite versatile.

Does the front passenger seat have the extender?

The manual - p. 2-4 - doesn't show this for the passenger

The driver's seat is more versatile in a variety of aspects.

OP's wife was complaining about the passenger seat.

The AC in this car is insanely good. 95 degrees the other day and my car was COLD in 5 minutes. Love this AC but it's hard to find that middle ground between too warm and cold as balls. It blows away my 2013 Honda Accord and... well... pretty much any car I've ever been in.

A good functional test for any air conditioner - home or car - is the amount of condensate being thrown off on a hot, humid day - no instruments are needed.

When I drove home yesterday on just such a day, the Genny left a trail of water on the driveway. ***

*** not vaiid if "recirculate" is on, however.
