  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
My drivers side view mirror keeps clicking and popping every time they try to fold in our out.

Took video…link HERE to view on Google.

Any ideas what to do?

The internal gears are plastic and are prone to degrading/breaking over time, a very good chance it will stop folding soon if it's clicking. You can buy a metal replacement gear and replace it yourself, just a little time consuming getting into the mirror and internals of the motor: How to: Genesis sedan Power mirror gear replacement

My passenger side one started clicking after a dealer service visit (I'm guessing someone bumped into it) and after a few days stopped folding altogether. I just turned off the folding mirrors and will revisit it some day, probably. Maybe. Honestly haven't missed them, but more cramped areas I can see the appeal.

Ya it officially keeps clicking and won’t fold in. How do I know it’s that interval gear and not the entire mechanism ? The mirror still turns left and right, up and down just doesn’t fold in and out anymore.

Mine dud the same thing.
There is a thread with a youtube hiw yo repsir it yourself video.

It takes an Hour or more.
you don’t have to remove the door panel, just the rubber trim that dampen the sound when close the door.

a Phillips screwdriver
a 10m ratchet
a plastic upholster prying tool (important or you will scratch the pain with metal picks prying the 2 inch trim loose closet to the mirror.

and the most important piece is the metal bolt screw from Amazon which turns the gear that open folds your mirror!
the one that is clucking that broke is Plastic!
This Won’t brake!

cost about $8 per bolt.
If you are handy you can do this.

to you can pay $1300 for the Dealing to replace the mirror unit.

100% sure that’s the problem!
Good Luck!

I am sorry for bumping up an old thread but I recently got a 2015 sedan and it still opens and closes but acts like it does not know it is fully opened or closed. It clicks when in use and when it is fully opened and closed and it does that for like 30 sec and then just gives up(turns off)
Thanks
