  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Apologies in advance if this has been covered elsewhere. Is there a major difference in the Signature package vs. the Signature & Tech package? I am mostly curious about the navigation system. Is that navigation system with 7 inch screen only available with the Tech package, or does it come along with the Signature package as well? I'd be curious to know about any other important features that I would be missing out on as well, assuming I only got the Signature package. Thanks in advance!

Did you check the Hyundai website? When you use the "Build" feature, it shows the packages and what is included in each package.

All models except the Ultimate (9.2") have an 8" nav screen. The 7" deal is referring to the display between the gauges. There really isn't a such thing a as Signature and Tech package since the Tech package requires the Signature package.

If you get a Signature, you will miss out on the self-driving tech (automatic braking, lane departure/lane keep assist, smart cruise control), more power seat options, better leather and a few other small things.

Get the Ultimate package. The HUD system and 9" display alone are worth the extra mulla..

This is probably right. I went in and was zeroing in on the tech. If i had said I was interested in the Ultimate, I think i could have negotiated it down pretty good.

So, shoot for the Ultimate and right before you sign papers, ask them what the price would be if you went down to the tech package and it should be pretty good.

I think the HUD is neat, but what i really miss about the Ultimate is the knob interface. i'm not a huge fan of reaching all the way over to the screen to change my radio station. The ultimate has touch screen and knob interface, which is very nice. No one else does this.

Why stop there? I would go for the MB S500 package.

LOL. Exactly. My goal here is to keep the cost to lease as low as possible without missing out on what most would consider key features. Is there anyone here who has just the signature package? If so, do you feel as though you are missing out on anything major?

Thanks to everyone for replying.

Having been on this forum for 6.5 years, I can tell you that no one who has a Tech Package or higher is going to say that they made a mistake, and they don't really need that extra stuff.

Plus, if you don't ever have some feature, I don't think you are going to miss it, unless you have it on your current car. The only exception might be if you think the standard drivers seat is so uncomfortable that you really must have the one with the thigh-extension on it. You should be able to figure that out by trying the Signature seat at a dealer.

You also need to consider how long you will keep the car, since the warranty of the electronics is only 3 years - 35K miles for audio/Nav, and 5 years - 60K miles for all the automatic driving/warning systems. Those things will cost a fortune to fix if they go bad, so you really do need an extended warranty on the Tech Package and above if you plan to keep the car beyond 5 years - 60K miles.

My Genesis is signature only and I'm satisfied as is. The only features it's missing that I would have liked is auto hold and heads up display. However, I can live without both. I have ventilated seats and blindspot alert - and that makes me pretty happy.

If it is in your budget, get a more loaded model but for me the Signature was the sweet spot. It has enough luxury and tech that I don't feel I'm missing out on the other features but I stayed within budget and get to enjoy more of the things I care about in life than my car.

I have *just* signature. I couldn't justify the extra $7k for lane departure, lane keep, smart cruise, auto braking...too many things being done automatically. If I could turn off "auto" rain sensing on the wipers that would be even better.

Wouldn't mind the ability to add more than one song at a time to the HDD, but not quite worth $7k for that. Might as well get an A6 for that money.

you can turn off the auto wipers.

Thanks again for all the replies. My main concern was that the navigation system / display was impacted by not having the tech package. It sounds like that is not the case and there isn't really anything that will be sorely missed by getting the signature package.

What car will your Genesis be replacing?

It all depends on your priorities. I will agree that many items in the tech package are not life changing for me either (but the bigger screen from the Ultimate package would be very nice if money were not a big consideration). However, for me the seats would make the difference. I found the upgraded seats in the Tech package to be something I would really be willing to pay up for. I am finicky about seats because of my back and I tend to like seats with a lot of adjustment. I found the upgraded seats on the Tech package to be noticeably more comfortable than the base seats with better padding and design. However, seats are very much a personal preference and for most people the base seats are probably very comfortable. Good luck with your decision.

Ah, yes. The seats have upgraded leather on the tech package from the sig. My deciding factor was the pano sunroof and the ventilated seats. In texas, ventilated seats are a priority for me. The Lane assist/departure stuff with Auto Cruise Control and emergency braking sweetened the pot. That is the kind of stuff you only find on S class, LS400, and 7 series.

you can turn off the auto wipers.

Sure, you can turn them off, but you can't turn them into intermittent wipers which is what many of us would prefer. I much prefer the intermittent wipers on my Santa Fe to the rain-sensing ones on my Genesis.
