  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Inspired by the "Audio Streaming Awesomeness in a Pre-2013 Tech" thread (thanks GenesisCaptain) I have implemented this solution for the Mrs. 2009 4.6..

http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=15314

However, I felt I was really missing the steering wheel controls...

I also needed to find a solution to solve the missing Siri Eye free feature in the R-Spec as well!?

As it turns out there is a nice product that does both jobs very nicely (There is even an Android version! :D);

http://bcoda.com/codawheel

I can go through the may features, but it is suffice to say it works very well, both for controlling the music as well as other features (such as send SMS, read emails etc).

However, I am still struggling with placement of this button, while balancing ease of use vs aesthetics and keeping in mind the impending Shifter install :D...

Here is my current take and I am open to (all constructive) suggestions :

Please keep in mind there are two versions:

iOS : [ame="http://www.amazon.com/CODAWheel-Bluetooth-Remote-Control-iPhone/dp/B00LXLSNXQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1422917212&sr=8-2&keywords=codawheel+android"]Amazon.com: [CODAWheel] Bluetooth Remote Control for Apple iPhone 6 Plus/6/5S/5 (iOS7.0 or higher) - Control your phone with the sleek and slim CODAWheel - Stay Safe While Driving! - Just One Touch to Answer Calls, Control Music, Voice Command [Black]: Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame]

Android (you get extra stuff!) : [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Extendable-Attachment-CODAWheel-Bluetooth-Motorola/dp/B00Q2G9IZO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422917212&sr=8-1&keywords=codawheel+android"]Amazon.com: [3 Items Premium Selfie Stick Bundle] Extendable Monopod Selfie Stick w/ Attachment Head and [CODAWheel] Bluetooth Remote Control Camera Shutter for Android Devices (Samsung Galaxy, LG, HTC, Motorola, Sony, Android KitKat 4.4 or later): Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame]

I thought I would share... Enjoy...D.

That is very cool. I have never seen a product like that before. It is on my list.

How do you like it in that location so far? Have you experimented with other spots?
Does it require an app to be up, or is it as simple as pair and then it is always there for you?

For the ease of use, I found that spot is the best, but it does stand out a bit (functionality=9, looks=6, very subjective YMMV)

I have tried few other locations :o;

- Next to the radio (defeats the purpose of keeping those hands on the wheel). (functionality=6, looks=6)
- Next to the cluster, on the top left side.(functionality=5, looks=7)
- Next to the four buttons (lane assist/Parking sensor etc).(functionality=3, looks=NA)
- Below the DIS, opposite the Back button in the 2009.(functionality=5, looks=5)
- On top of the DIS very much like the look - i.e OEM, but I think interferes with the OK click, example if I press it hard by mistake it may break the button..(functionality=5, looks=9)
- Behind the steering wheel on the opposite side of the 'Voice Command' button, but I am pretty sure this location will not work when the Shifter is installed..(functionality=7, looks=NA)

As far as operation, it is a snap, when it is paired, on iOS it is pretty much acts the same way as pressing home button, however it does have an APP that allows you to make it do other things, played around with it a bit, but ended up with default configuration (Home button)...

Best of all it is always on/there (it goes to 'deep' sleep when the paired phone is not around), no batteries to replace, the Battery is expected to operate for 2-3 years of normal use... (we will see :rolleyes:)....

One other thought, I have learned to press it once I am in the car so it is paired and ready to go anytime (otherwise there is a slight delay the first time you use it), but I still think it is worth every penny for both the 2009 and the R-Spec as I am getting another button...

The other button for the R-Spec arrived today and it had to go in perfect place :D (YMMV):

- On top of the DIS very much like the look - i.e OEM, but I think interferes with the OK click, example if I press it hard by mistake it may break the button..(updated - functionality=7, looks=9)

Technically this Coda Wheel button should work for any trim (including base)...

In the R-Spec I only use it for the Siri Eye free functions (i.e. read my SMS/emails aloud etc) as controlling the music is more convenient using the steering control via BT connection.

Is it me or does this look like a Genesis (Hyundai/Kia Design)? (Found on their website).

The OP is incorrect.

This is not a Siri Eyes Free solution for the Genesis Which integrates siri to the vehicle (Mic+Speakers). This does not do that. You can still use the regular Siri via the microphone of your iPhone.

the bCoda is merely a portable home button that connects to bluetooth. It does the same thing if you hold the home button on the iPhone.

You can't click to activate siri. You have to press and hold until siri launches.
