My Sirius is up for renewal. Last year I refused to renew in mid-December, citing costs. I waited for a while and on December 30 they called and offered a $77 deal. The standard subscription on thier web site is about $180.yr. What kind of deals have others gotten recently? Thanks
They can do better, just hold out! See below.
No deals, just ripped off.
I did not renew, they sent me a bill and said I owed them for the 2 or 3 weeks they left it on after the renewal date past. I told them I didn't want it, that's why I didn't renew. I told them to cancel it and send me a bill for the 2 or 3 weeks they left it on without my confirmation.
I got a bill on 10/25/12 that said the payment was due on 10/15/12. I called and told them they'd sent me a bill late and I wanted the service cancelled. The made all kinds of offers with reduced prices down to free for a couple more weeks while I made up my mind. I told them NO! Cancel the service I would never renew based on their attitude and poor service. I paid the bill ($20 or so). A few days ago I got another bill - a late fee for not having paid the bill I got on 10/25/12 by the due date of 10/15/12.
What a bunch of (in order to keep from getting my post deleted by a moderator) sorry turd heads. I will not use their service and I will not recommend their service to anyone and I will continue to take every opportunity to tell people how they are comfortable falsifying their bills in order to insure people can't pay them on time (sending you the bill 10 days after the due date on the bill.).
Sorry bunch of people, dishonest bunch of people, not anyone that should be considered when you want to listen to music.
Do what you will, just remember this when they try to stick it to you.
If you would have actually read and understood their terms and conditions, you would have noticed that it is an auto renew contract, at regular rates. You did not cancel, so they can renew you at the regular rate.
Not saying I agree with their marketing strategies, but as a consumer, it is your duty to understand what you are signing up for, and act accordingly to protect your best interests.
You can always get the best rate; you just need to understand how they work, and apply a strategy to beat them at their own game .
I received 3 months free with the Genesis I bought in July. I called XM to cancel the balance on my
Infiniti trade in. I told them to either apply the time remaining at the end of the 3 months, or send me a refund check. They offered to apply the remaining funds to an additional 6 months (after the trial ends) for $25. I accepted, and did not give them CC info; rather send me a paper statement via snail mail.
VERY IMPORTANT: NEVER give them CC info! Always request a paper statement!!
I have been down this road many times with XM. I have found that when you get the 6 months for $25, call right before it ends and cancel. Set a reminder on your cell phone, and make sure you call BEFORE it ends. Depending on who you talk to, you can usually get the offer again. If they don't give you that offer, and you state "its just too much money right now", they will usually give you 2 or 3 months free to think about it.
If they don't, go ahead and cancel. Like clockwork, they will send you emails. The best offer is just after a month has went by. It is the "we want you back" email offer of $25 for 6 months.
It takes a little time to work it this way, and is really stupid to be honest. If XM was $4.99 a month, I would be in for the long haul. At $14.95, there is no way.
Just my experiences, hope it helps someone.
