  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Start with some searching here. Sounds like you need some lubrication and others have done it.

Thanks Ed, I also wondered if the guides on the track are clogged with dust, pollen and debri. Now, how would I clean an lube it all without getting the interior and headliner all stained up… 🤔

I think someone on here fixed theirs by adding a capacitor. I guess their sunroof motor wasnt getting enough power.

I've cleaned my tracks well on my sunroof and removed as much "gunk" that I can - then used white lithium grease on all the contact points. It works much better until the grease finally wears thin, then I just lube it again. I've found that it will "stick" and reverse most of the time where it's pushing the wind deflector down. If it does that I just hold the close button and when it gets to that point I just slip my fingers up and push it down and hold until the window clears the contact point.
Had no problems with any stains, etc.

Thanks Guy…. This makes sense! I believe I will use a drop cloth over the interior and maybe mask off the adjacent headliner a bit. I tend to “make the fir fly” when I get to cleaning something. I guess I’ll need to be a bit more patient with this rascal. 🦉

Found a simpler solution. The day I bought my car 4 years ago opened it, closed it and never moved it again. Climate control works well.

Its funny I bought my car in maryland and it was a 5hr drive home. I had the roof open and closed many times on the trip. A couple of weeks later I opened it and had to get someone to push it closed while I held the button. I said the same thing "at least my heat and ac work fine."

The closest that I get to opening it is to open the shade....

My 2015 pano roof has been freezing up for quite a while and the dealer has tried lubing it but it only works for a little while.

Thankfully Hyundai has extended the warranty on the roof recently so I officially took it in this morning to have them repair or replace the stuck sunroof once and for all.

OP or anyone else fighting with the pano roof needs to call their dealer and get their car in for repair.

Unfortunately I bought mine used. Im also assuming there is no recall for the sunroofs. Mine still vents so thats a plus

The new sunroof warranty covers all owners. I'm second owner and past warranty time and they said my roof will be covered.

Now if they come back and say otherwise, I'll be pissed. But the document shows all owners covered 10 years 100,000 miles. Just google Hyundai extended warranty sunroof.

...and my fears came true. Service tore apart pano roof and said motors failing, rails issues etc. They claim extended warranty only covers broken glass, meaning if pano glass exploded due to whatever reason. Nothing else covered. Needless to say I'm pissed.

I left VM for lady in warranty department who told me to come in because warranty WOULD cover my issue. I clearly told her several times roof won't fully open and gets jammed.

So now waiting on her to call back.

DAM that sucks. im sorry man. I would rip into them atleast get some gas money back. It sucks because issues like this are holding the brand back.

Yeah it was a real let down.

At least their shuttle got me there and back with a nice driver. :)

When I got to the shop this afternoon I met with the "warranty" service woman and she was very nice and said she was frustrated because the warranty Hyundai added was what she called "vague" because it says it would replace the sunroof "assembly" which she said is my main issue. So she is contacting the main Hyundai group to discuss and see if she can get them to cover the claim.

Not holding my breath at all but will be nice if she can pull it off.

Yeah... deliberately vague. Gives them an out. Hope she can argue your case,
