  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All.

We currently own a 2011 Genesis 4.6L with approx 140k miles, My wife really likes the car but wants one with less miles. I went to look at one today: - 2010 4.6L with 54k miles but the engine has a slight tick. The ticking sound appears to be toward the front of the engine on the drivers/left side. The engine was warm and driving great but, the tick..... Our 140K car doesn't tick so i'm sure they are not supposed to tick.

My immediate thought was a lifter going bad, but it appears to be right at the front of the engine, high up but odd that it sounds so close to the front.

Questions: -
1. if it is a lifter is a huge job or fairly easy?
2. If it's not a bad lifter then what could it be. suggestions?

Thanks.

Does the tick change during increased RPM?

I found a post on here saying that the valve springs on 2009 and early 2010 models had issues and that could be causing the ticking. I didn't buy the car. I did however buy a 2016 Equus.
