  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am really starting to like SCC. I used to leave it set at the default of 4 car lengths. Now I am most comfortable with 2 car lengths. What are other Gen 2 drivers favorite car length?

I use 4 lengths unless conditions require something different.

To be honest, I'm only comfortable going either 4 or 3 because I think 2 or 1 is too close for an automated system but hey, that's me.

I'm always driving on 1, covering break pedal at most times.

Works like a charm.

i've tested the SCC.. i'm completely comfortable with it on 1..and driving here (DC area) 4 just leaves to much space and it has to keep slowing down for cars jumping in front

I agree that 4 is too long because of people jumping in and activating the braking. It seems like the braking is a little smoother when it's not on 4 also, but that could have just been a sample size issue.

+1 Only thing I don't like is the restart time from pressing the RESume button up is definitely too slow.

I like it as well at a setting of one. The only things I don't like about it is that when leaving a red light under a 3 second stop, the acceleration is not fast enough and those behind you get impatient. I now just hit the gas until up to speed.

The other thing I noticed is when someone coming in the other direction that makes a U-turn and gets into another lane (not the lane I am driving in) the system still brakes. It doesn't brake as the car passes in front but after the car is pointed in the same direct as you are in the other lane.

The car is a few hundred yards ahead of me so it is not like they cut right in front of me. It is almost like a delayed reaction. It has happened twice now.

I use 1 but wish there was a 0.5.

i wished the resume up to speed when the lead car moves would be smoother..if i'm set @ 78 (which i normally am and it slows to 70 ish.. I dont need a downshift to 6 when a smooth accel will do..now i understand if i'm slowed to 50 i get it ( yeah i normally just blip the gears back to 8th)

I agree - the resume up to speed is too harsh. I wish it would accelerate at a more normal rate, instead of it seems, that I have a heavy foot on the pedal.
Makes for poor MPG.

I use the shortest distance. At longer distances the car brakes to many times due to other cars etc. I am pleased that they now give you 4 distances to select from vs my 2013 rspec which only had 3 distances -- all of which were to long for me. I also like the ability to turn the ACC off to use just regular CC. Regards.

I usually press the gas pedal to start moving, thus getting up to speed faster. But when I feel lazy - I use the switch :D
