If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have noticed this on 3 separate occasions now and I'm beginning to wonder if there is a problem.

While driving and the cruise is OFF, I'll notice a flashing display in the cluster that says "Caution!", in red words. In the background is the cruise control page that is displayed when the cruise is set.

Anybody experience this?

I have never seen this but my wife reported it twice.

I looked for the icon she described in the manual and found nothing.

She thinks it happens when someone in front of her turns off the road and as she passes them.

She wasn't using cruise control - if I recall correctly.

I would love to know what this is.

Its good to know that it's not my mind playing tricks on me. The first two times, I noticed it and by the time I focused on the screen it went away. This third time, I must have caught it at the right time as I was actually able to read it.

Were there any cars around you at the time?

You guys sure that wasn't Collision Avoidance kicking in? A couple of us on the Equus side have seen it before.
Vehicle Stability Management, Pre-Collision Warning in the OM.

There was a car in front of me traveling in the same direction, about the same speed.

Collision Avoidance? Didnt know the Genesis had that?

I was thinking it said WARNING..perhaps is was CAUTION in read letters with a red box drawn around the word. It was quick, and you have to look fast to catch it. There was someone on my ass so close I could not see his headlights. There was no one in front at close proximity.

I believe that I read that the 2012 Sedan had the Collision Avoidance System. However, I have not seen anything in the manual about that feature.

Now, the next mystery. On the same LCD screen between the tach and speedometer, I have seen it put up a screen that said FOG which also had a image of a "fog cloud" in the top left area of the screen sort of covering the top left area of the F on the word FOG.

I have crawled through the manual hoping to locate something that shows all the possible images, warnings, or other indicators the screen might display.

Hey Philth or Mark (or anyone else),

Did you ever get any clarity on what this caution screen might have been? I had the same screen pop up very briefly this morning as well. I was on the way to the dealer, so they checked for any fault codes and found nothing and unfortunately had never even heard of this type of msg.

With my parking sensors on, I did have a car in front turning out of my lane at the time this warning came up, but it certainly wasn't a panic type situation.

It would be great if there was a database somewhere that had images of all of the various screens/warnings that can be displayed and provide some info, because if you don't know what the heck it's trying to tell you, it may as well not tell you anything....

Thanks
Jay

Don't really have enough of an issue to bring it to the dealer, as I suspect they will turn me away with nothing found. However, the red, "Caution" does appear in the MFD at random times. I've also noticed that when I am rapidly approaching a stopped object with the cruise OFF, this warning will display as well.

Ok, thanks. My SCC was off also at the time so makes me believe it has more to do with the parking sensors and as you said a rapidly approaching object. Perhaps the thinking is that if you are looking down at your dash and this pops up when something is coming at you (or you are moving quickly toward something), it is trying to alert you to pay attention.

Guess someday we'll figure it out...for now, who knows.

Could be the parking sensors, but I don't know if they can "see" out that far. I'm thinking more in the line of the adaptive cruise camera is always on, even though the system may not be engaged?

I know the parking sensors are always "on" even thought the button may be off. I'm dealing with that now because I'll randomly get front sensor fault indications on the MFD when I come to a stop, with the button off.

Mine dose it every day when going under an underpass which leads to the Pittsburgh Int Airport. It's most likely due to the some sort of external interference. I have now learned to cancel the ACC just before, and resume it to prevent hard sudden braking.

I've always assumed its the ACC sensor in passive mode telling me to stop looking at the dash and pay attention to fear-braker in front of me.

The 2012 5.0 I have has the collision warning. It worked and kicked in when someone pulled in front of me. Also pre charged the brakes. Was weird but nice. Got the red warning on dash and sound.

No more information but mine did go off on my R-Spec just last week. This time it happened when someone cut in front of me at a close distance. He was also applying his brakes to slow down rapidly. The alert went off advising of the pending danger. In this case, it ended up not being a problem. However, it was quite distracting and actually took my attention away from the situation.

I forget what the message was. It doesn't really stay on long enough to understand what it says. It is some type of warning letting you know to take evasive action. Personally, I think it is too late by the time it tells you. At least it could apply the brakes for you like my other vehicle does in a similar situation.

I suspect it would apply the brakes if the cruse control had of been engaged. This is just a guess however.

It will. I tested mine on a stopped object and pretty much brought the car to a stand still.

Wow, I don't know if I am brave enough to test the smart cruse in that way. BTW, did you get the warning on she screen?

I can't remember, actually. I think I was too focused on me being ready to press the brake pedal should the car not stop.
