  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

On all my other vehicles there was a way to assign the remote keys to a specific memory position.

You open the door with a specific key or you open the door with a specific key in the vincinity and the memory system would adjust to either setting 1 or 2.

I can't seem to find how I associate the remote keys on the Genesis to a memory setting. Is that not possible?

Cheers

Thomas

p.s.: In retrospect I am really spoiled by the smart key system on the Avalon. That is an area where the Genesis could improve a bit

To the best of my knowledge, the car and key do not transmit information, as you've described...

BMWs do this with radio stations, seat settings and a menagerie of other information.

This could be possible, with a firmware upgrade in the keys and the car, in the future, however.

For now, you have to push the 1 or 2 seat memory button in the driver door as you're entering the car.

I am not sure the key needs to transmit any data except to announce itself to the car. The car should remember which key is assigned to which memory position. This could very likely be addressed with a firmware update.

This is the only car I know of with a memory system and remote keys that does not do this...

Very strange.

What does the car do when two keys arrive at the same time, as in husband & wife go to the store? [both carrying keys]

i think there is a specific key that is desginated for the husband so that this won't be an issue:D

I think Cadillac vehicles work this way as well. They use the excuse that it confused people. Personally, I think they're just being cheap. I hope they do resolve this with a future firmware upgrade. This is a luxury feature that people expect.

There is not even much luxury to this. This is simply common sense.

The owner's manual appears to state that the ignition must be on for the seat memory buttons on the driver's door to work. Does this mean that you must get into the car, turn on the ignition and then press one of the buttons? My wife is 5'4" and I am 6'1" and I cannot even get into the car with the seat in her desired position. Or can you simply press one of the buttons as you enter the car (without the ignition on) to move the seat?

Very surprising that the key itself does not trigger the seat to move. My 2001 BMW has this feature and, I think, it is essential in any car that considers itself to be a luxury car.
