  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I'm writing a story about the Genesis for SmartMoney magazine. Would you be available for an interview?

Thanks,

Daren

Thee are lot of different angles they could choose for a story, e.g. the "move up"/"move down"/"move over" customers, HMC perceptual issues in the near-lux market, etc. And this forum probably has the largest concentration of Genesis owners around (more than Edmunds, I think, which I take a quick look at every few days), so hell yeah, Sal, turn him loose on this group!

I received a PM requesting the same. I am undecided whether to respond or not.

I'm not worthy. :( I didn't get a PM.

I guess being one of the first in the U.S. to take delivery of a Genesis (6/27/2008) coupled with the fact that I used to own a 1997 528i and 2006 GS430 aren't enough to make me a person of interest to Mr. Fonda. ;)

I wouldn't imagine that Daren doesn't has enough time to PM everybody. :p

Well, why the heck not?!?

J/K ;)

SmartMoney is a logical fit for Genesis.
Target readership is affluent professionals who want to intelligently maximize their income. Sounds like the type of customer Hyundai is aiming at...

Sal,

That is great - you have to do it! If not for yourself than speak for the rest of us that for want luxury but don't care about the badge!!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I am making myself available for the interview. It sounds as if they'd like to speak with at least a few of us...

I'll second the nomination of Jwaters for an interview. He has done so much for the members of this forum he deserves a shot. I'll also nominate BaywayRic.

I just got off the phone with Daren. He seemed very nice and asked all the questions you would expect. He plans to test drive a Genesis in the next two weeks to get his own impression and to validate some of the things he has read. The interview took 15 minutes at most.

All in all, I reported positive things about the car. The only thing I mentioned for improvement was the dripping water into the trunk from the edge of the trunk lid. However, I made it clear that the trunk does not leak. :)

Daren Fonda emailed me yesterday and I spoke to him a little while ago. I could only think of good things to say about the car. He asked about the Hyundai image and badge. I told him that I had taken the Hs off the car. I had to admit that I was a snob and didn't want anyone to know that I drove a Hyundai. He asked if I had ever had a luxury car before and I told him that I still had a 1996 BMW 850ci but the Genesis made that car look cheap. Also, told him I had had a 1997 740iL for eight or nine years until it started thousand dollaring me to death. I forgot to mention the 840ci I had for four days before my partner totaled it.
It will be interesting to see what gets printed. He said that he thought the article would appear in the December issue which should be on the stands in November. I have now subscribed to the magazine.

I wonder if they'll give a little mention of our site. Hmm.. In any event, I haven't heard back from him myself...

I received a request as well...I just deleted the message as hoax/spam.
I do not even own a Genesis yet!
YET! :p

Let the car speak for itself -- not the badge!
