  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone else find it hard to do a smooth launch from a full stop on the v6. The car either rockets or starts too slow, can't find happy medium after 5,000 miles. Does linkage need lube or is this normal.

Likely your automatic transmission. If you engage the manual shift and slowly pull out you will not notice the momentarily lag because you are overriding the transmission

Are you referring to just wanting to start off "normal", not like a jack rabbit and but also not slow like my 90 year old grandma drove? I'm generally a very light-footed driver, and I've never owned a vehicle with so much power, and I had a heck of a time adjusting to just how little pedal it takes to keep the Genesis from firing off the line like a race horse.

However, somewhere along the way I did get it. My starts are now smooth and, as a bonus, MPG friendly, while not being too slow. I really haven't paid much attention to exactly what I'm doing differently, it just seemed to finally come naturally somewhere prior to hitting the 10K mile mark. I remember before that point that I was concentrating when driving friends around town so they wouldn't think I was driving like a maniac.

Later,
Tom

I had the same problem but finally corrected it by concentrating more on pushing my leg forward slightly to depress the accelerator as opposed to using my foot only. Took a few hundred miles, but I can now accelerate without drawing attention to myself, either by rocketing across the intersection like a top fuel dragster, or by seeing a single-finger-salute in my rear view mirror from the driver behind me for mimicking a snail.

I have the same issue in the 4.6 and I always feel like a DB when I rocket off from a stop on accident or accelerate like a grandma.

Guess I'll need more practice.
