  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So are there a lot of false positives when you try remote climate/engine start?

So there probably 3 or 4 days a year where I might want to try it. I did it this am , and received message successful start and heat on. But when about 10
minutes later got to the car, engine not running and car was ice cold.

What gives?

Anyone else ever have this issue?

It only runs for 10 minutes. You can go into the Genesis app and adjust this time.

Go to menu on your app and check remote history. For the power on lines, click the down arrow and it will give you details.

Maybe that will help decipher what did or did not go wrong.

It didn’t run at all even though text confirm said it did. Car didn’t start and heat did not go on. Car was stone cold.

For whatever reason I had three straight failures in a row this morning. Never did get a remote start. I’ve had an occasional failure before but never three straight. Also, my app wouldn’t update when I would swipe down. It said it was updated two days ago. I just checked it and it did respond to the swipe and updated.

Thanks for the follow up. Curious - did you get notified of the failure 3 times? Or did you try 3 times & got a successful message , but it failed? Mine says it was successful, but it never started & heat never went on. So it reads it was successful but wasn't.

This had happened to me on Friday morning. It was weird, a bit of a fluke actually.
I used the phone app to remote start the car like I do every morning, letting it run for about 5 minutes before I get into the car. (I can tell when the car starts with the engine roaring to life.)

If that fails, you can always use the remote start button on the key fob, even though it will not be your preferred settings for climate, etc., at least the car's engine will be warm and up to temp.

Jack, if you unlock the door or open/close the door without getting in fairly soon to confirm you're the driver, the car will shut OFF. That has happened to me twice. The Remote Start was successful (got the message and heard the engine). As we were going into the garage, I unlocked it with the FOB for my wife to get in the passenger side, then I went back in the house to get something. When I came back out the engine was OFF.

There was an option in the Climate Start on the App to automatically lock the car before it tries to remote start it, but it didn't always work for me (probably 50/50 if it started successfully).
Now I always just lock it beforehand (if it isn't already), and it has always successfully started.

Uhh, mine never started and the climate never went on..... I did it the other day and when I got in the car was still running and warm. This am, got the text said that it had started , as I posted , and the climate said it was on. But the car never started and the heat never went on - car was stone cold. Like I said. The app said it had worked - which was wrong. PLUS, I have a ring right there and there was no activity on the ring - unlike - the test I just did. Don't have time to try and post the whole video, but here is a screen shot of the lights blinking before the car started and the heat went on a few minutes ago. This am no activity on the ring and no car startee.

I was notified of the failure each time.

Keep in mind, they rely on the Verizon cell network. If a tower it down or parked in a spot with no signal, no start.

Yep. And I guess I would not have gotten a message telling the engine had started and the heat was on, when it wasn’t.

This happened on the coldest day of the year for me.

It was my fault though.

My complimentary trial was up. It would not give a price for the monthly service, so I figured I’d let it expire so I could see the monthly price. Of course it expired on the the coldest day. It is $12.99 a month. As soon as I paid it immediately started working again.

The G90 mild hybrid does not roar to life!

I have to be right next to the thing, almost with a stethoscope to hear if that thing is running.

I look for steam condensation coming out of the exhaust in the morning, otherwise it is difficult to ascertain whether it is running.

I bring up the mild hybrid piece because you won’t hear the noise of a starter either unless the big battery is uncharged.

Maybe with a garage it is easier to hear, but the G90 is the quietest ICE car I have ever heard.

The G70 does roar to life. I can hear from inside the house, especially on the "cold start" days. I love it.
Although, it pales in "noise" in comparison to my Mustang. :devilish:

I'm glad you got it all sorted out.
Enjoy!

So this is another hiccup maybe. I submitted the climate start command and got this:

Then this:

IMG_3278.webp

But it was running when I got to the car.

So I thought the command has to be resubmitted upon failure? It just keeps on trying until success?

I do not believe it keeps trying. Because they only allow you about 3-5 attempts and then you get blocked for 60 minutes according to their messages. Not sure if that is 3-5 failures or 3-5 attempts regardless of starting.

My requests yesterday were very flaky. Kept getting failures and then was blocked for 60 minutes. Couldn’t troubleshoot to see if it was the parking garage, cell towers or the BlueLink network. I was in a new place by the time the block was lifted.

I think something was wrong with cell towers or Hyundai BlueLink yesterday around 5PM-ish Not sure what happened. All was good again this AM.
