  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I stopped by my local Hyundai dealer today and was checking out the Genesis and comparing it to Cadillac since it's a Hyundai/Cadillac dealership. I was kind of surprised by the pricing they had for the 3.8 models but the 4.6 seemed to be a little but high but not as high as the 3.8. They had 5 Genesis' all together. 3 3.8's and 2 4.6's. The cheapest 3.8 they had was $43,080 while the cheapest 4.6 they had was $44,010. But I thought that pricing was a weee bit on the expensive side for the 3.8 so are these prices around the norm for these or are they a little on the pricey side?

USA. I just went to their website but all of the pricing for the Genesis sedan's were listed as "CALL". Here's the pictures of the price tag for the 3.8 & 4.6

These were the least expensive of the one's that they had

Just guessing....but did they add a $2,000 market adjustment fee? That's what my dealer tried to do. I told him it would be the shortest customer visit ever if he didn't take it off. Which he did.:D

Seems high to me, I paid Aprox 38,500.00 for my V8 with tech... I hope this helps.

One more thing... I hired a car broker so that I wouldn't have to deal with worrying about getting the best price. He did a GREAT job! Some dealership would deal and others wouldn't, he had the car delivered and everything.

Honestly I don't remember seeing the market adjustment fee on the sticker.

You notice those prices are hand-written, right? Actual Mulroney's aren't. I agree they aren't showing true MSRP, but adding 2k to it. For example, check Sundtrop (or something like that) in St. Louis on the net: they also add the 2k but will sell at $39,100 (4.6 with Tech). I think that's the going rate, and if you offered this dealer $39,500 or so he'd probably deal. If not, there are alternatives...

I paid 39,600 for a v8 w/tech,trunk mat and alloy lug locks.

What are they adding on to make the prices OVER MSRP?

The MSRP on my car is only 42,100 , and that is fully loaded.

who will pay market adjustment price these days? Are they trying to sell Live Support device?

Any dealer trying to get a market adjusted price must be crazy. The way auto sales are right now they just need to worry about moving cars

It's a starting point to negotiate down for those who don't know how to deal with car salesman:D

Nothing wrong with asking anything, doesnt mean your going to get it. If your not buying doesnt matter what anyone is asking, now does it.

Are you shopping at Crazy Eddies? Those prices are insane.

$33,200 for 3.6 Prem+

I have seen a number of dealerships here in the California Central Valley with $4,995.00 dealer markups on 3.8s and 4.6s. I also got a internet dealer response from Keri Lynn Cornelius, the internet/Fleet Sales Manager at Hardin Hyundai in Anaheim (714-231-2587 cell or 714-956-1820 x515) kcornelius@hardin.com for a 4.6 tech @ $37,998.00. A pretty good variance. So some dealerships are taking advantage of us, and some are trying to sell cars...depending on the market areas and the savvy of their local buying public.

I purchased my black/black premium plus for $32,900 and it included window tinting.

The manager of the dealership I purchased from had put just under 2000 miles on it so it was discounted somewhat from their normal premium plus price. I was happy for the discount; 2000 miles is trivial.

Some dealers are trying to makeup for the slow sales on the other models by charging more for the Genesis (which are moving fairly well at most dealers).

By my calculation, that $37,998 quote is $1,273 under the invoice price of a 4.6 with Tech. Perhaps dealer holdback, some sort of a factory incentive or other hidden factor has come into play to keep that dealer from taking a loss on the car. Whatever the case, if that is a legitimate quote for a 4.6/Tech, it's a killer price. Here's my California buying experience:

After lurking on Edmunds' Genesis forum and this site for several weeks, I was 90 percent sure that a 4.6/Tech would be my next car. When a Hyundai rep spent 20 minutes showing me the features of the car at the San Jose Auto Show in mid-January, she convinced me to take the plunge.

I assumed I was going to have to pay list or close to list for the car here in Silicon Valley, where it seems that every other car on the road is a late model Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti or high-end Acura. I checked the dealer's online inventory at the five Hyundai dealers within 25 miles of my home. Only one had what I wanted: a platinum/black 4.6 with Tech, so I called the Internet Salesman at Capitol Hyundai (Bob Baqleh) in San Jose and asked a simple question: Where are you at price-wise for the platinum V8 you show on your website? When he said I could have it for $500 over invoice, I told him not to sell it— that I was on my way.

I arrived with check in hand on Jan. 16th and drove it home. Factory sticker: $42,150. Price paid to dealer: $39,832. Price out the door with tax, license and doc: $43,731. Had I shopped around the state, it's possible that I may have been able to find another platinum/black 4.6 with Tech and saved a few bucks, but life is too short. And I prefer to buy locally. Couldn't be happier with the car and, so far, with the dealer.

Check edmunds again as there is $1200 dealer money for 4.6 Tech. And I suppose no one paying more than invoice these days when the un-employment rates shooting to the record high. So, a normal deal will look like invoice - $1200 plus whatever you can hammering down
