  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all,

I have a beautiful 2015 Genesis Sedan 3.8 liter v6 RWD that I recently purchased in November with only 25,000 miles! I have been using the local "Genesis" dealer where I picked it up for service and they just don't listen to me. Very problematic.

Last two oil changes I request full synthetic and I know they have not delivered based on my invoices. Further they don't rotate tires when asked and which to me, is simple. Not really pleased with service either and they don't answer my questions, so I'm about done with 'em.

SO, let me ask you some questions.

1. Do you use full synthetic or am I wasting my money?
2. Do you recommend using premium gas? Manual states it runs on 87, but my last car (Hyundai Veloster) had a GDI engine too and had carbon buildup issues which really caused a lot of problems and I really don't want to go down that road again. If 87 is fine, what product do you use to clean the engine inside (fuel treatment).
3. For the RWD, if I have front/back uneven tread, would you prefer that I have more tread on the front tires or the rear? I'm not talking about for the winter, just in general.

Also, any other service tips or gotchas to worry about?

I would love to drive this car for the next 10 years and keep it mint.

Last, if you are in Philly, where do you take your Genesis?

Thanks :)
Tory

While you may not "need" synthetic no one as ever had engine problems from using oil that is too good. If you are planning to keep long term, worth a few bucks more.

Nothing wrong with 87 octane. Do use a Top Tier gas though. If you want to take a bit extra precaution, Techron is the most common used here.

I used to know a couple of good shops In Philly but I moved away from there 40 years ago and both guys were older than me so they are probably pushing daisies instead of pulling wrenches.

Thank you! This is what my gut was thinking.

Appreciate you Ed.

I'll do some more research, but my inital search shows Sunoco should be ok, which is where I go lately.
