  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Had some time on my hands this morning so I am going through my owners manual. I came across some interesting things.

Engine Valve Inspection

There is a recommendation for valve clearance inspection/adjustment every 96,000 km (60,000 miles) on the Lambda engine only. (V6) I assume this means the V8 is self adjusting.

Vehicle weights.

There is quite a lot of talk about how heavy the V8 option is yet the AWD V6 weighs only 45lbs less than a 2WD V8.

V6 2WD 2,400kg (5379lbs)
V6 AWD 2,500kg (5511lbs)
V8 2WD 2,520kg (5556lbs)
V8 AWD 2,590kg (5710lbs)

Dead Battery.

If the battery goes dead you will need to reset the auto up/down window feature, sunroof, trip computer and climate control system.

Trunk Fuse Panel.

Unusual place to have a panel but good to know they have put one there. Quite a few fuses located there and worth a look in your manual. Pg 7-67 in the CDN version.

LCA. (Lane Change Assist)

I knew there was some kind of system as I had seen it in operation numerous times but did not know what it as called. The LCA is tied into the BSD (blind spot detection) and warns you of a fast approaching car on either side. Nice feature.

ECS. (Electronic Control Suspension)

I thought this was simply tied into the sport mode which made it stiffer which it does however there is more to it than that.

The ECS controls the vehicle suspension automatically to maximize driving comfort by taking into account the driving conditions such as speed, surface of the road, stoping requirements and acceleration

ESC OFF Feature.

This was discussed and fuses were pulled and you name it on the Gen 1 as there was no real way to defeat this. If you hold the ESC button for more than 3 seconds you turn off the esc completely, both engine and brake control.

Feel free to continue this list as there are certainly more items I have overlooked which may be of interest to others.

Correct. Same as 2009-2014 Genesis V6 and V8. I have not heard of a lot people on this forum having any problems on V6 at 60,000 miles, but some value noise has been reported for the V6 with much higher mileage.

I think you have a typo since V8 AWD is listed twice.

Corrected the typo, thanks for the heads up.

Are we talking about some other vehicle weight scale of pounds (lbs)?

Those weights listed are not the US pounds usually referred to when listing car weight - the V6 is not 5,300 lbs unless loaded with cinder blocks. Virtually all references to the weight of these cars, including the Hyundai web site do use this scale. As an example, there is a 250 lb difference from a V6 AWD and a 2WD V8.

Those are Gross Vehicle Weight figures. ;)

Which are great to figure out the maximum load of a vehicle or truck, but are not as useful when comparing vehicle weights across models and brands. It also skews comparisons - the AWD V6 is almost 250 lbs less than the V8 - the GVW listed shows otherwise which is mildly deceiving.

lol I was wondering that too and was waiting on someone else to ask.

2015 Owner's Manual seems to only include Gross Weight, which is Curb Weight plus the allowable load (passengers, luggage, cocaine in rocker panels, etc). Curb Weight is the number everyone is looking for.

You would think so based on how the button/screen act and how the manual describes it, but it does not completely defeat the traction control system. It still kicks in rather abruptly after a moderate amount of wheelspin.
