Some thought about the car after 2 weeks:2016 Genesis Sedan Ultimate 3.8
Cars I had owned before Genesis: 2015 TLX Advance, 2014 Lexus Fsport, 2014 BMW X5 F15 Xdrivei35.
Tested drive before pulling the trigger for this car: Cadillac CTS 3.6 Performance Premium, 2016 Lexus GS350 Fsport.
I finally bought the car after done some of research on this forum and reviews on Youtube. All of the reviews on youtube said good things about the car. In this forum, however gave me some of awareness of the problems belong to the car. But after a test drive, I decided to buy this car, Ultimate 3.8 over the Lexus GS 2016 full options.
For the comfort, this car is excellent and a lot better compare to some car that I had owned (TLX 2015 Advance, 2014 Lexus GS Fsport.) Maybe because of the Fsport with the difference chassis that was tune for sportiness. and it is comfort as much as the BMW (consider this is SUV).
Quite ride: This car is very quite inside just like the TLX and GS. However, I have to admit it is better than the BMW. You can hear a lot of tires noise inside the X5.
Transmission: Very smooth. I hope it will last long, but I love it so far.
Technology: Somehow, I think this car is little bit lack of innovation in term of software, even though they have all equipments installed in the car.
For example, with the UHD in the BMW, it shows incoming call, out coming call, recent called, song list… With 1 click of Call button, you can see the recent called in UHD and scrool the wheels to select the contact you wanna call, very convenient. On Hyundai, you click the call button, it wont show up in UHD, also, on the main screen it shows the dial pads instead recent call or favorite contact.
Bluetooth: It works ok but nothing bette compare to Lexus or BMW: on the BMW, you can select songs and playlist in Apple Music app via bluetooth. Also, the Album Art Cover will show up via bluetooth too. Genesis does not offer it.
Parking sensor: Just like other Japanese cars but far behind compare to BMW. In the BMW, you can see it directly in the main screen with real 3D effect, showing how close it is to the object. I wish Genesis offered it.
Rear Crossing traffic: showing in the dashboard LCD instead of main screen with rear camera. I see it fixed that in the 2018, however, it should be there at first place.
Speakers: Very good and I think it is better than lexus Mark Levinson and as good as the Harman Kardon in BMW.
Control center: A lot of useless buttons, You have 3 buttons on the right side of the nob for Navigation, WOW. I wish it was one for MEDIA instead.
Everytime you start the car, it goes back to FM/AM or SXM, It wont stay in bluetooth in last setting. That sucks a lot.
Ventilate, heated seat: No auto. In the TLX, it is AUTO and will cool or heat depends on the temperature you set. I love that a lot.
For the complain of the vibration at idle, I can feel it too. and. I dis the test with one glass of water in the center of console cup holder. I can see it is waving a lot more than the one in Lexus. However, I can live with that, nothing major for right now. hopefully, it wont get worst like someone said in another thread.
Overall, I love the car and have no complain so far. Just wish they made it better in term of software.
