  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After a year of working perfectly, my HUD has gone wacky.

I drove it twice yesterday morning and the HUD was OK. I used the car again at lunch and in the evening and I had no HUD at all either time. Settings were as normal.

This morning, I drove the car twice and the HUD was normal. Again, at noon, the HUD was gone on the way into town and so faint I could barely know it was there on the way home.

In every case, the contents of the HUD were correct. Nothing else in the car seems to be affected. The lane following and smart CC work fine. I wonder whether I have a loose cable.

I never knew I would miss anything on a car as much as I miss the HUD.

Is it possible that your auto headlights came on when the HUD went dim?

... or were you wearing polarized sunglasses? :)

Yes, did you wear sunglasses at lunch and didn't wear them in the morning?

If he’s been driving this car for year I would think that he’s well aware of the systems use and short comings. Pahaska is a frequent poster and judging from his posts knowledgeable about his car. So I tend to believe it’s not operator use or error. Just saying…..

Pahaska is retired jet fighter pilot. I think he knows well enough when he has his sunglasses on, or off.

Photo grays, but not polarized. Same glasses I have been wearing for the last year.

The problem seems to be heat related. The HUD is normal when I go to breakfastat 7am and again when I return home at about 8:30. After heat soaking in the sun till noon (94 degrees), it was dim.

I was going to suggest heat. There are certain things in my car that don't work well when its hot and certain things that don't work well when its cold. It's like a game of vicious cycle lol

HUD flickered and then came on bright on Saturday. It has not failed since. I was on a bumpy street at the time. Guess I'll just see how it goes from here. I take the car in for the 15,000 service later this week and I'll see what they say.

This just happened to me yesterday. It was on and off three or four times through the day. I have my 7500 mile appt. tomorrow, so I'll have them check it out. Did anyone find a confirmed cause - my dealership needs all the tips they can get...
