  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I had my 1st service for my new G70 3.3T Sport Edition on Tuesday. Leading up to it I was impressed, got all of the Genesis communication, was contacted by the dealership using Genesis branding. Said I had some things that I needed to discuss so I didn't want to utilize the valet service and take it in but had a scheduling conflict so I would need a car... no problem. So far so good.

I get there and its a Hyundai / Genesis dealer (where I bought my car) and I get there early as they said it would be beneficial, but when I get to the service desk they were like...yes? Give them my name and they find the ticket and I have to go through the whole litany of why I was there early, why I'm there period, I need a loaner for a few hours and so forth and so on...so already they are not aware that it's a 6k Genesis Service visit...they say they don't have a Genesis for me to drive, I feel like a Hyundai customer, I feel like I'm being more accomadating to them than they are to me. So far no where near the Germans in experience much less the Acura dealer we deal with for our MDX.

So they ask if I want to drive a new Sonata or Palisade... I go for the new Palisade so things are looking up, but when the conversation changes to the things for them to look at, I bring up the sunroof rattle issue, the smoked chrome issue and the harsh shifting and once again, they look at me funny and ask, is this a Lease or do you own it... I say I own it, then they asked where I bought it but since its relatively new... none of that should matter right?

Now they weren't jerks about anything, but you could tell the expected difference in service isn't there yet so Genesis needs to get its act together there... as far as the sunroof... they heard it and filed something with Genesis America, will wait to see what they say. The chrome, they are going to try a polish from Genesis, will let me know when that comes in. They did not experience the harsh shifting, but I don't know if they even checked it.

All in all, I would say the book is still open, certainly not good but not bad either.

The dealer is in the St. Louis, Mo area, but I prefer not to say due to family relationships, however, when they send their survey out, I will be mentioning similar things as I have here. Caviat to all of this.. my purchase experience with this dealer was excellent.

Sounds like going to a GENESIS dealership is still a toss up. Wish they would get their act together.

I know this is a year old thread, but nothing has changed in “the Lou” with service in West County- it’s still no different than going to Hyundai. I have a used G70 and knew I’d have to pay for an oil change, but don’t have access to a lift right now so figured I’d give the dealer a whirl. Nothing wrong or unsat with the service experience, yet unlike the brands they’re competing with got no loaner and got generic Castrol GTX 5W30 for $60. I also asked about a replacement oil filter under tray cover, the little circular thing (last owner lost it or likely last servicing it wasn’t put back on), and was told I’d need to order a whole new underbody engine cover. So, all in all not terrible, but not great. Thankfully, the car is great thus far so it overshadows the dealer service experience.
