Hello Friends. I am soon going to finalize on buying a 2015 Genesis 3.8 - RWD model . Its got current 45K mileage. I am very excited and love the car.
Please help me with the checks i should do on the vehicle since i find so many features , and want to make sure i check everything .
Please suggest if there is already a checklist of things to check on the car .
Things i have checked so far -
Drive test
- Drove the car for about 5 miles or so . Checked Automatic transmission and manual override (shifted 1 to 8 gears) .
- Brake multiple times in city road
- Accelerated on the freeway
- Tried reversing the car , and rear view camera worked .
- Navigation Map was working during drive
- Engine temp was at half mark - looked ok in the test drive
- Checked Tire pressure monitoring system shows all 4 tire pressure when vehicle is running.
- Checked tires on the car show good amount of tread is still left on them. All 4 tires are Yokohama brand.
- checked during driving the colloision warning system lights up when there is a car present on my left.
Other checks at showroom
- Start stopped engine atleast 10 times
- Checked all power windows are working . Opened all the windows all the way down and back up again.
- Checked rear door power winodws.
- Checked A/C was working. Checked it was working in the rear seat aswell.
- Checked no engine lights or warnings
- Checked system and it says 1500 miles for next service
- Plugged in USB drive and played music off the usb drive
- Checked FM / AM Radio , Sirius XM .
- Navigated to different menu options on the touch screen console.
- Checked both front 12v power outlets
- Checked left and right rear view mirrors can be adjusted correctly . Also checked auto and non auto mode for rear view mirrors work
- Checked the left and right indicators , both from rear of the car and on the rear view mirror
- Checked High beam , low beam
- checked sun roof . Opened and closed it completly 5 times.
- Checked fuel lid can be opened using the cabin button
- Checked boot can be opened using cabin button
- Checked windshield wipers work and checked water is being sparyed on the windshield
- Checked battery in the boot , was a Hyundai Battery made in Germany . Battery connectors look new.
- Checked leather seats - no tear or issues . Checked for cleanliness of the cabin .
- Checked the car floor carpet mats are in the boot
- Checked spare tire is present in the boot .
- Checked boot has jack and tools .
Did not check
- How to check seat heating cooling system is working allright ?
- How to check cruise control and adaptive cruise control is working ?
- How to check life left on the 4 brake shoes
- How to check health of battery
- What checks to do on the engine ? I am sure the engine oil is changed recently. Anything else to check ?
- On RWD is there any transmission fluid etc to check ?
Questions
- Is the Genesis car very low ? I checked under the front bumper of 3 genesis cars and all of them had scraps / scratches under the front bumper indicating the car could touch the road sometimes.
- I found driver side headlight bulb was not working . Its going to be replaced by the dealtership , but is there a problem with headlight bulbs on genesis . On my honda the headlight bulb did not need replacing over 6+ years.
Please help me with the checks i should do on the vehicle since i find so many features , and want to make sure i check everything .
