  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do any of the Gennys have a limiter (governor) on them? On an empty highway the other day I floored it briefly from around 70mph and it pulled up to 120mph very quickly. Then I backed off.

Yes they have some sort of speed limiter on them, but I think it is higher than 120. I recall that someone previously posted the limiter info somewhere on this forum.

Might be different between 3.8 and 5.0, but not sure.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if 3.8 was little bit slower, limited to ~130mph.

The sedan is supposed to be electronically limited to 155. But doing 155 takes a LOT of real estate. In my area I have an area with a 5 mile long straight stretch. I didn't get on it right away but I saw 147. The car was still accelerating though slowly. I was very impressed with how composed the car is at that speed. No drama at all. My sedan has no aero add-ons at all. I thought the rear end might get light at that speed, but no. The Genesis has a lot of power up high. I am amazed at how it accelerates from 80+ it pulls strongly. It seems to pull harder there than off the line!:D That is when the ESC is on anyway.

I have 09 genny POWERFUL V6 :p, I did it 155mph.
up to 120mph, it ran really fast !

GENNY POWER!!!!! :D

Wow. Well I don't think I'll be going 155 anytime soon. But it's amazing how smooth these cars are at high speed. They were totally made for the highway. Friday evening on a trip out to Palm Springs from LA driving through the desert I got behind a new BMW 750IL cruising about 105mph. Let him stay in front of me a ways and paced from a distance. Then a really nice black Maserati got behind me. Stayed like that for a good 25-30 minutes. Made really good time, virtually no other traffic on the road.

How did y’all achieve 155mph ofcourse you gotta remove the factory speed limiter map but how do I get it removed my 2012 genny sedan tops out at 137mph and it’s locked
