  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I searched for info on the splash screen not showing up, but found mostly threads asking for help on changing the wallpaper, fears of burn-in on the screen, and other assorted issues that don't land on my problem.

I got in the car for a quick run to the store tonight. I noticed that, upon startup, the screen went from black to the warning; it never showed the logo. When i re-started it at the store to come home, I watched again, making sure I didn't do something out of the ordinary (as I've noticed I sometimes cut the memory seat positioning short by either putting it in gear too quick, or latching my seatbelt- not sure which). Fob in the hole, seat starts moving, press the button, engine starts, seat finishes moving, screen goes from black (powered, but nothing on the display) directly to the warning screen.

Has this been experienced or discussed by others? 09 w/tech, if that makes a difference in this case.

I seem to recall seeing that as an option to disable in the menus - but I would have to go hunt for it again. Did you (or someone playing in the car) disable it? :)

Hopped in this morning and drove it without taking notice. Realized this after I got to the office, re-started the car in the lot, and there it was. I wondered if I had disabled it, but I guess not since it worked that time!

I'm stumped. I thought I had it nailed down to latching my seatbelt after inserting the fob but before pressing start, but now it's back to going straight to the warning screen regardless of when I latch my seatbelt. It's got a mind of it's own. I guess the solution is to just not look at it until I'm ready to turn off the nanny, but KNOWING it's supposed to be there and having it NOT be there is going to make me nuts.

I seem to recall reading this in another thread - but is there any chance the splash screen is showing up after the car has been parked a while (10 minutes or perhaps an hour) and not showing up when only off for a few minutes and/or perhaps without the door being opened & closed?

My 2009/Tech sometimes displays the "Genesis" splash screen and other times goes right to the legal warning. The splash screen sometimes displays for only a second or two, other times for several seconds.

It isn't directly related to how long the car has been shut off either. I.e. if the car was off for only a few minutes - so the entertainment system was still in "standby" mode rather than fully off - doesn't seem to be the main factor. I can shut my car off, wait just a few seconds, and press START to wake it up again... and see the splash screen for a second or two.

To the OP's original concern: your car is like my car and sounds normal. I too have noticed the apparent random nature of when the splash screen displays vs. going straight to the disclaimer nag screen. As for the seat & steering wheel movement: that stops when the transmission lever is moved out of PARK. Starting the car will pause the motion (if they had started moving because you hit START without pressing the brake pedal) but it should resume quickly. Mine doesn't care about latching the seat belt while it's in motion either - something I do after starting the engine. That keeps me busy for a second or two right after the engine is started so it has a few seconds of idle time to get the oil flowing before I load the engine by shifting into Drive.

Thanks, Mike. This is my first car with a screen. I'm not neurotic about things, by most definitions... but when my car changes behaviors, I have a really hard time letting it go until I know why.

Like last night, I noticed that the engine idle RPM would elevate to 1500 after shifting to park. Take it out of park, it drops back down. Never noticed it before. Can't stop thinking about why :o

Until it warms up a bit, mine will do the same thing.
