  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all,

I have a 19 month old 2016 Genesis 3.8 RWD (Signature trim line). I have noticed that my air conditioning seems to be sensitive to the speed of the car.

1. It takes about 30 to 60 seconds for the system to start blowing cold air after startup and I often get warmer air until I speed up.
2. I have also observed warming of the air when I have to slow down (as in a traffic jam). When I say warming, I don't mean hot air .. I do mean "not so cold" air.

This behavior is repeatable. For instance, it normally takes me about 6 minutes to get from my house to the entrance to the freeway. During this period, the HVAC system is blowing air (typically about 2/3 max) until I get to the freeway. When I accelerate to freeway speeds, the air gets much colder.

Is this a bug in the system or is there some design flaw?

Normal operation for most vehicles especially if your car interior is already hot. It takes RPM to get the air conditioning compressor up to it's ability to work effectively.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Also keep in mind that we're no longer using the old R12 freon,AC temps aren't what they once were!😂
Now a days we all notice the warmer temps at idle.

You may want to have the booster fan on the condenser (in front of the radiator) checked.

I notice mine is RPM sensitive. The fan boosts up once I start driving slowly, then ramps down at idle.
