If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've read through about 20 threads from a search on Spring Rates in this section but still could not find the info I'm hoping exists.

I did find the following link but seems to be only for the coupe:

Does anyone know the spring rate changes for the Sedan since 2009?
I started another thread a few weeks ago trying to see how the early 2009 is in comparison to the 2012/2013 r-spec suspension. I wonder if the new r-spec's suspension would keep the firmness without the jittery/bouncy ride.

but the thread took a turn to the rear sway bar change (which I'm still considering also).

I also wonder if anyone has changed to a 2012 suspension but kept the solid rear sway bar of the earlier models? I've heard the 2012 can be a bit floaty (comments on that from those that had made this change?)

I don't think the rear stabilizer bar would have anything to do with whether the suspension is floaty. Although the 2012 rear stabilizer is now hollow, it is larger diameter, so it prevents side-to-side sway just as well, but is more flexible up and down to allow each rear wheel to act more independently when hitting bumps.

As far as spring rates, they have gotten less firm, and shocks more firm to compensate, since early 2009. The 2009 springs were overpowering the shocks/struts and the rear end was just too bouncy unless the car was fully loaded at near maximum weight load (passengers, luggage, etc).

I have never seen any specs that mention any kind of numerical spring rate, if that is what you mean.

I've read some reports of people saying the 2012 suspension doesn't corner as well. I'm wondering if the older sway bar combined with the softer springs would make for a comfortable ride but still corner nicely.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping numerical values would be available to see if the r-spec is worth a try in comparison to the early 2009. I don't want to go through all the time and money to make a change to realize I'm still in the same situation.

As you probably know, I mentioned in other threads that I recommend the opposite. Use the old spring/shocks with new rear stabilizer bar. That assumes you have the 2010-2011 springs/shocks. Early 2009 may be a little too stiff.

I would test drive a 2012/2013 (R-Spec and non-Spec) and see what you think and whether cornering on the new suspension really is an issue to you.

But for 2009-2011 ride improvement, comfortable riding tires are key.
