My Genesis only has about 800 miles on it, and the driver side seat already squeaks. Every time I go over a bump, break, or turn, I hear a squeaking noise out of the seat. Anyone has any recommendations on how to remedy this problem?

At first I thought it was the seat belt, but then I unbuckled, and I still hear the noise. I think it's coming from the backrest, not the actual seat cushion.

I also hear a squeak but it's coming from my elbow being on the arm rest. The squeak originates from the back edge of the arm rest.

Could it be the wires underneath rubbing against something? I honestly wouldn't mess around w/ it myself, I would take it the dealer. Good luck.

As far as the armrest, I have this squeak and it's quite irritating. It only happens when I have a passenger though. I can't get it to squeak unless I really lean on it.

This may be out in left field, but I have found that squeaks often do not come from where they sound like they are coming from. Something you may want to try is spraying some silicon lubricant on all of the rubber seals around the doors. This is a common source of squeaks that can sound like they com from the seat, B pillar, roof, etc. Just a shot in the dark. Hope this helps.

I have had the squeaky (driver's) seat problem off and on since my purchase last December. At first I thought it was just that my weight (I'm 6'7", 240 lbs) was causing too much stress on the seat and was prepared to make my appointment with the dealer to have it checked out. Then, one day when I was cleaning the seats (I often use the pre-saturated wipes from Mcguiars), I spent a little extra time on the driver's seat and noticed that the section of the seat that is adjacent to the center console was rubbing. I used the wipe on that side that was rubbing, and voila, no more squeak.

Now, every time that I clean and condition the seats, I make sure to hit that area.

Hope this helps.

This is a GREAT tip. Mine makes a small amount ot noise, and I always figured it was something like this. I will give it a try.

I drove about 2k each way and haven't experienced anything like it.

I always suspected that this could be the issue. I'll try it out, see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.

Im noticing a little chirping noise from under my seat most times I hit a bump. Im going in for normal service on Tuesday and they should be able to duplicate the issue and resolve it. I'll keep ya posted.

I too had a rattle / Squeak from my passenger seat. The dealer replaced the bracket and rail connecting the seat to the floor rail. Problem fixed. A bit of a pain because the part was not in stock and required another trip to the dealer.

Squeaky Drivers Seat (backrest)

I have a 2011 Hyundai Genesis Sedan with about 5000 miles on it. For the last couple of thousand miles the backrest has been squeeking. I am pretty sure it is the backrest as I remove my back from the seat and the squeek goes away. It appears to be coming from the lumbar area.

It squeeks when I sit, accelerate, go over the slighest bump, or pretty much any time there is any change in the pressure applied to the seat backrest. It is even audible when the radio is on. It is very annoying. I have never had this problem with any other vehicle before.

Has anyone else had this problem and how was it fixed?

Thanks,

My drivers seat makes a cracking sound when I move away from a dead stop. Seems to be coming from the console side. Car has 15k miles and it started doing it several months ago. Extremely irritating. Going to take it in to the dealer to get it checked out.

I too noticed this problem, and I'm 6'2 230.

It could be the leather rubbing against the console. Try using a leather conditioner a few times.

Our 2011 had one one of the nuts that secure the driver's seat to the floor of the car that was loose from the factory...when you moved just right or accelerated/braked the seat would rock slightly making a clunk...it was the front, outside nut that was loose. Tightened by the dealer, no more issues for us.

When I had my 2011 Genesis, it had a very squeaky seat back.

Brought it to the dealership, they could clearly hear it and tried to see if they could fix it...they couldn't.

They gave me my car back, and said you can have a loaner 'til your new seat comes in or take your car back and we'll call you to bring it back in.

I choose the latter, and the new seat solved it

Re: Squeaky Drivers Seat (backrest)

Lubricate the back shield on the seat, it is just the plastic rubbing. I had the same issue.
