  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 4.6 V8 and wanting change wheels, stock setup is 18x7.5 (39mm offset) with 235/50/18 tires.

I have three setups I am looking at:

1) 18x8 (45mm offset) with 235/50/18 tires

2) 18x8 (38 mm offset) with 235/50/18 tires

3) 18x8 (38 mm offset) front and 18x9 (45 mm offset) rear with 235/50/18 tires.

I would like to have the staggered look, but not if it will sacrifice the ride.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check the search feature. Many threads about wheels, even various styles PS'd on the Gennie

Think about a 18" 8.5"wide wheel with 255-45-18 V or W rated tires. This tire size will give you approx the same revs per mile as the OE tire size, thus keeping your speedometer accurate and give you better dry handling.

None of these are staggered other than one setup uses different offset wheels which gives you the negatives of the staggered look and none of the benefits Check the posts and look for the guy who put the Linea Corse LC818 wheels on his car. That is a staggered setup that really nail the look. There is a Miata.net tire size calculator to help find different size tires with the same diameter. Go to the Tire Rack website and they have a tool that will match tires and sizes. An 18x8 front with an 18x9 or 9.5 rear with 245/45x18 front tire and a 265 or 275/40x18 rear will get you close on a staggered look and not confuse the traction control, abs or vsc.
