  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK - Genesis 2012 will try to explain as simply as I can. I have an intermittent problem with the start button. SOMETIMES when I push it (foot on brake, key in my pocket) nothing happens. The seat reverts to the 2nd setting and I have to actually open the driver door, touch the seat button on the door, put my foot on the brake and push the button again. Sometimes this happens 4 and 5 times before the car starts. The brake also feels tight under my foot...I know this sounds strange but am hoping for an answer. Thanks.

Might be the interlock switch in the brake pedal circuit is intermittent.

Whatever, why worry about it, just take it back to the dealer the car is still under warrantee if you have <50K miles on it.

Phil,
There is a recall on several models for the brake interlock switch. Since the engine management system must see the brake depressed before starting you are very likely to have that problem. Go in ask about the recall and hae them at least check the switch. Very likely to be the problem. in another thread one guy said he just pushed and let off the brake pedal a few times. if your car then starts get that switch replaced!
