Hey everyone,
Recently, my starter started declining, and it failed completely today. I can't get the thing to do anything. I have a 2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 3.8L. I got the car towed to my local Hyundai dealership and they are quoting me over $2000 to replace the starter. They are saying that they need to remove the exhaust manifold, the water inlet pipe, drain some fluids, replace "tons" of gaskets, etc. Has anybody needed to get this done before? Is my dealership trying to scam me? Is this something that I can do at home?
I called another dealership and they're quoting me about $700-800 less than the dealership that I brought it to.
Thank you all very much for your help.
