  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So nothing too exciting to share really other than my starter when out (as the title says! ha) September 21st in a Starbucks parking lot right before the monsoon rain came. I am in McKinney TX and we got 10 inches starting that evening into Saturday noon time...
The few months prior, I would go out in the morning only (1st time to start for the day) and it wouldnt start. I would try again then the message to put the key fob by the button...I would do that and it would finally start. I thought maybe the batteries were dying. So I replaced those.
Then come this particular day when I had meetings scheduled all day of course...car didnt start in the morning, then it finally did. Then after Starbucks no go. Maybe the brake switch? So I have my wife come get me and go to the dealership to by a switch, I replace it and still nothing.
Well I am screwed so have it towed to the dealership and yes it was the starter. $640 later...my car was returned. They did a full detail for free inside and out so that was nice of them.

Sucks to pay for a big repair like that but at 100k, anything can happen. At least they did a good detail job.

Indeed the car was immaculate after. Thinking back I should have got the car towed to my own house. Then bought the starter and replaced myself...Would have saved $300+. I also was given a 2018 Elantra "limited" as a loaner. I guess not bad for an inexpensive vehicle but once I got back in my Genesis it was night and day difference in comfort and gas mileage :)

It sure lets you appreciate your car after that. I had the opposite experience and it paid off for the dealer. I took my Sonata in for service and they accidentally cooked the ECU doing an upgrade. They gave me a Genesis for a loaner. I used it to take my wife out the next day and we really liked it. A few months later I bought one.
