  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife drives our 4.6. She says that periodically at 60+ miles per hour she has to "tug" on the steering wheel to free it in order to turn right (lane change type move). This results in an over steer. The service managers at two separate dealers said that they have never seen this problem and can't fix it unless they can duplicate it.

Any experience with this or can someone point me to a thread discussing this problem?

Thanks in advance

Terry

The steering is electric and variable assisted. As speed increases the input effort will increase. If a sensor is going bad then it could cause your problem.

Mine did the same thing about 2 weeks ago i was on the highway going into a right turn and there was a little rough road (New York) and it seemed as if the power steering was not working and the steering had frozen up definitely scared me a little. Hasn't done it again though, put the steering wheel telescopic and up and down has frozen up a few times at start up.

This is just a followup to those who may have a similar problem brewing. The steering got progressively worse. The service department experienced the problem and called the tech center. They replaced the gear box and the problem has been solved.
