Steering issues 2012 Genesis 5.0

When making turns at low speeds my cars power steering is fine but when going at higher speeds such as a highway bend or when doing a big turn to enter the highway it will sort of lock up and than after a few seconded of the turn it will get lose as if all the power steering came back. I’m not to sure what this issue could possibly pinpoint to, if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated

Could be the steering rack. If so, expensive fix. I had similar where it would sort of lock in a turn. My fix was to trade it in.

I found a steering rack for 550 CAD, I just don’t want to buy the steering rack and it not be the problem

I do not have any personal experience with this. I think that everyone who had had similar symptoms and had a resolution, that resolution was that the rack had to be replaced. Many with this problem also mention that sometimes at low speeds, it will not self return to center after a turn.
There is one person on Facebook that believes the problem to actually be the u-joint on the intermediate shaft. This would be a much cheaper problem to fix if so, but they have not yet replaced the shaft to confirm this as their issue. I'm a bit skeptical (but watching) as others that had the rack replaced went through a fair amount of diagnosis and never mentioned replacing the intermediate shaft.
All that said, perhaps you could spray some penetrating lubricant on those u-joints and see if that make any temporary difference. Whatever the outcome, please do let us know.
