  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sticky for wish list items? (Fog lamps on 3.6, sound system, etc).

Hey there!

I'd like to make some tutorials and organize answers to common requests.

As a 1st time poster and new browser, one of the first things I did was go through 15-20 pages or so on multiple boards. Something I found to be missing was an organized (sticky? :)) that provided how-to's on many common requests. Certain information regarding basics (speaker replacement specs) also seems to be hard to reliably locate.

Here are some of the items I plan to work on in the following months for my Genny.

  • Add Fog-light assembly (will likely opt for always-on method)
  • Upgrade audio from stock 7 channel system
  • Badge Removal (already done and simple, but a quick how-to could help the newbies :D )
  • {TENTATIVE} Create custom "Welcome Lighting"
  • {TENTATIVE} Replace exhaust tips
  • {TENTATIVE} Create "light show" circuit and assembly (would allow for individual control of each LED in front/rear light strips - providing option of sequential turn signal, etc).

Is this something the community/mods would be interested in? I'd also love to take requests to add to this list if it comes to fruition.

I'm looking forward to being part of the community - let me know what you think!

I'm sure forum member would appreciate any additional helpful DIY projects

Sounds good. I'd suggest adding one on how to get the LED brows to function as DRL's instead of the amber incandescents on the 2015 (2016 now has the LED brow DRL's). Thanks.

These 2 have already been done - in fact the badge removal is sticky'ed. The fog light bit is expensive and complicated as per the thread - but it is also newly available across all models & trims (other than base) for 16.

I figured I would just link to the badge removal for the sticky :)

I haven't seen a DIY for the fog light assembly though - any chance you could link? I only saw the Stalk / Harness thread which didn't have much direction about installing the actual fog lights.

Absolutely! I'll admit I keep my LED's on during the day so this would be a great tutorial if looked for.

Keeping them on with a 2015 by turning on your parking lights looks silly to me - they are WAY too dim to be DRL's and your tail lights are on as well.

It's as simple as removing the front underbody panel, undoing the nuts on the filler pieces/dummy fog lights, removing them, and then popping in the actual foglights and reinstalling/tightening the nuts. All of this can be done with the car on ramps without taking the bumper off if you have small hands. Otherwise, it's easier if you take the bumper off.
