In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Has anyone else experienced extreme early tire wear with their stock tires? At 17k, mine are worn out.
Hyundai sent me to Dunlop and so the process begins.

Is anyone else dealing with this?

Thanks

I have 25,000 miles on mine, and I still have over 4/32. I figure I'll make 35,000 miles before the wear bars (at 2/32) show up.

lots of threads on this topic, these are performance tires with no tread life warranty. a few high milers aside, you seem to be about par for these tires..

Stock Dunlop Tires alternatives?

what do you think great all season high performance alternatives are to the stock dunlops?

I am a fan of the ExtremeContact DW

I'll probably get to 20k mi before I need a new set, but they won't be Dunlops - I'm not a fan of them. My rears are at 4-5/32 and my fronts are about 6/32 at 17k mi - never rotated, 32-33 psi the whole time, and I always replace at 2/32, not bald. I was actually looking at the Tire Rack site and there's a General tire that is the highest rated right now and its inexpensive. Also, there are two Kumhos that get good ratings.

I've had some great Kumho tires in the past so I'm open to them - the Genesis comes with Kumhos in Korea so it is probably the "true" OEM tire. I have also heard great things about the Contis, but they cost more and the reviews don't seem to be any better.

Fwiw, I'm looking at all-seasons since I need something for cold winter temps and rain stability vs performance.

I kept my tires for my father-in-law after they had significant issue in any type of snow. I replaced with Michelin Primacy and they have improved overall ride, traction, and performance.

Now, here is the interesting piece. My father-in-law takes the Dunlops, with 6K miles, to his tire dealer only to find tread separation in all four. I open up a ticket with Hyundai who advise me to take the tires to the dealer. Service Manager runs them over to a local Goodyear shop and ultimately get a partial refund for the tires.

My observation is, how many Genesis Sedan owners have replaced these tires and not recognized or were aware of possible warranty issues? Had my father-in-law not wanted the tires for another vehicle, I would have never known either.

(Was also looking at the Continental Extreme DWS, but weren't available when I needed to replace my tires. http://blogs.insideline.com/straigh...tech-continental-extreme-contact-dw--dws.html )

Are the Extreme Contact DW any better at treadwear than these Dunlops? I'm at almost 21K miles, and the tiers look like they need to be replaced. I would rather get a tire that will last longer than a year if possible. Can anyone let me know before I sink $1000 into tires?

The DW ExtremeContact are not long wearing tires.. if you get the all season DWS they should go 40k...

Check these links to Tire Rack to assist you in selecting the appropriate tires for the conditions you would like:

Tire Rack user reviews of Dunlops compared to other Ultra High Performance All Season tires. They finished 20th out of 20 with lowest ranking in snow performance and 'would you buy again' categories: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...jsp?type=UHPAS

Once you're in there, you can sort and search per your needs.
