  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well,

I finally did it. I have installed my sub of 15 years old in my Genesis and love the new sound.
The lows are finally present and the sound is amazing...There's an amazing rattling going on underneath the car that I need to fix now. Will look at it this weekend.

Here are the pictures that say it all:

This of course is my car...

The trunk liner removed

The spare and accessories now gone...

The box finished

How it fits in the trunk

The amp and carpet installed in the back

The sub box installed with the side pieces installed on a hinge so I can fold them inward

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Looks great! I was thinking of doing the same thing, but couldn't find any info on how to hook up the amp to the stock system.

Could you explain what you did to get yours hooked up?

Yes it seems pretty straight forward...
The sub input is connected to the existing sub in the car.
(low level converter)

Power is connected directly to the battery.
The remote is connected to a 12 volt acc. (I did not see this)

The connection is the easy part...the buildup of the box is the hard part.
Good luck and trust me it's WORTH IT BIGTIME!

The sound is AMAZING!!!!

My subs and amp are also connected the same with yours is, and works fantastic:)

In an effort to make sure I'm doing this right I've attempted to decipher the wiring in your picture.

The outstanding issues I'm still trying to work out are:

1) Where are you tapping into the factory sub's speaker line? Did you literally yank it our of the speaker, or did you splice in where the line exits the factory amp?

2a) Where and to what exactly is the remote line hooked up?

2b) What is the small black box on the remote line?

3) It looks like there are three wires running into the Hi/Lo converter. I know two of those are the positive and negative wires from the sub's audio, but what is the third?

Also, please let me know if I've mislabeled anything.

Thanks for your help!

WOW!!!
I'm impressed with what you did with the picture...yes you labeled everything right.

Here's what you don't see (don't forget I did NOT do the install, it was done by Car shop)
The wires that are connected to the sub actually go from the Hi/Low Converter (Left) to the right and then goes up to the sub

2a) Where and to what exactly is the remote line hooked up?
It's connected to an acc. in the fuse box. (Again, I did not see this but the installer told me)

2b) What is the small black box on the remote line?
I have no idea what it is...sorry

Actually there's 5 wires in all...
2 positives
2 negatives
1 ground

If you need any other assistance please don't hesitate to let me know...it is my pleasure...you'll love the sound output.

Regards,

Scottdk,
Is your factory sub still connected or did you disconnect it?

How did you mount the board in there bolt it in? or is it just kinda sitting there?

It's just sitting there...it's pressure fit against the back board where the amp is.
Trust me it ain't moving...it's really heavy!
IMO it will move only if I rollover.

I still have my stock sub connected:D

i third that i once blew a tire n was stuck -38 degrees :( no spare i = cold that night
