If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sorry if this has been discussed; didn't find anything in search.

I've run into a problem with interior storage. I have a 3.8 with Plus Package. Bluetooth speakers replace my sunglass holder. Can't find a way to remove the ashtray that I don't need. The tiny storage hole above the ashtray can't hold anything other than two or three cd cases. The glove box isn't reach-friendly while driving. Everything slides in the driver door storage. Drink holder holds drinks but could be used when those aren't around.

So, I'm left with the armrest storage. It doesn't take long to fill this storage space. I'm looking for suggestions as well as a product that will fit in the driver door storage to keep items from sliding around.

I too miss the sun glass holder where the blue tooth receiver is located. On my last three cars I've partitioned the door storage bin by gluing pieces of thick weather stripping to create pockets to hold sun glasses and reading glasses. I position the pieces of weather strip so the glasses stand somewhat upright which makes them easy to reach and doesn't take up much space. I've also found that a thumb drive in the usb port in the center console serves as a pretty good anchor for another pair of glasses.

I'd like to avoid using anything permanent. I'm experimenting by placing three thin cut strips of rubber matting. So far its ok, not exactly what I'm looking for but I'll keep working on it and post.

I'm also looking at typical stores for any containers with separated storage sections that might fit the arm rest. Especially if I can tun it into a double-decker where the lower section keeps less frequently used items.

Wish I could get rid of the ashtray and figure something for that useless storage slot above it.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I pried the metal ashtray grate off the little bin - viola - coin holder.

For sunglasses, have you tried one of these?

Also, You could get some felt or rubber matt and cut it to fit in the door pockets so stuff doesn't slide around...

I have to say though, how much stuff do you have in your car that you're maxing the storage space?

Good question. After considering what items I have to store it all comes down to convenience not actual storage space. In the 3.8 w/ bluetooth the only convenient storage you have is the arm rest. The arm rest has good storage except things are stacked on top of each other. I have to dig as if it was the "catch-all" drawer in the house.

So, my goal now is a divider for the arm rest, not a double-decker storage. And I've got the rubber matting in the door storage but haven't had time to give it a good test.

Oh, and I pulled out the metal ashtray for change!

I sympathize. My Sonata had a feeling of more storage space. The center bin was deeper (probably due to FWD) and didn't have the power/aux/USB plug stack taking up room. It also had a rubberized, shallow bin and a separate change/cellphone pocket under the center stack (where the cubby and ashtray are in the Genesis.

My former Sonata had a nice tip-out bin for change in the dash above my left knee. That went away in my Azera and Genesis.

It would be really neat if someone would design a little pull-out drawer that would fit in the cubby in the Genesis. As it is, anything I put in there flies out when I step on the Tau.

I agree. I use the same sunglass holder shown above. It works well, but isn't the prettiest thing. They silver/grey tends to blend in a bit better. My ashtray area (once you remove the actual ashtray which comes out quite easily) works very well for spare change. I've had as much as $4-5 in there at a time and it doesn't slide/rattle around like you might think....at least with the sliding lid closed you can't hear it.

As far as the door pocket storage goes, I have no idea, but a craft or home improvement store should carry felt-type material w/ an adhesive backing that you could line each of the pockets with. This should help keep things from sliding around too much and cut down/eliminate the noise generated by things sliding around.
