  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Strange thing happened two days ago.

The radio station indicator comes down and then goes back once on the driver's display when I change stations, but it started coming down and going back up, every 15 seconds, showing the correct (unchanged ) station each time. Then the monitor screen in the center started to go blank and then reboot itself. It kept doing this every 15 seconds or so.

The only thing I could figure out is that I put the passenger seat heater on for my wife who was going to enter the car in about five minutes. I noted the seat did not get hot to my hand touch and so figured out there was some sort of safeguard that prevents the heater from going on if someone is not sitting in the seat.
I therefore turned off her heater and curiously the above mentioned malfunction stopped and never reoccurred.

Does is glitch make sense to anyone? I know the computer systems are highly interrelated in these cars but the radio station indicator and total failure of the display computer failing together?

Strange. When you say drivers display, you talking HUD, instrument panel, or primary infotainment screen? When my wife is with me she generally has the seat heater on and I’ve never noticed anything weird going on with radio stations showing. I don’t change stations that much. Usually on Sirius FM or my iPod. As a last resort you might try the little reset button adjacent to the radio area. You will need a paperclip to reach that button but some issues have been corrected with a hard infotainment reset. I had connected services issues for remote services when I first bought my G70 and the reset corrected my issue.

Funny things are happening with many of our systems (see 'Navigation Unresponsive & Constantly Freezing' thread) that may be associated to a recent SriusXM software update. You may want to contact your Service Advisor and let them know. My Advisor called me Friday afternoon and told me Genesis Tech services had requested my 'numbers' and a patch was supposed to be sent out in the next couple of days.

not sure of the nomenclature you are using but the zone out and rebooting was, I think what you refer to as the primary infotainment screen- where the maps display.
No sense calling anyone because the electronics have worked sans probleme since then.
So- what do you think caused this? Could it be turning on the seat heater without anyone in the seat?
The car was parked at the airport for 6 days without use. Could that be an issue?- Picked up an airport transmission???

I've turned the seat on frequently with no issue and don't see why it should be.
When your car sits for more than 4 days the remote start will not work as the modem shuts down and will not receive a signal. Perhaps other stuff does too.

Cars have lots of computers and chips. One thing I learned about computers many years ago is that rebooting fixes a lot of problems. Anything else would just be a guess for me.
