I seem to get an email monthly from Genesis suggesting service. The sending domain is: noreply@genesis.myvehicle-email.com
Today the email message was an alarming: " ! ACTION REQUIRED". Required? Really? The email goes onto detail, saying there's no recall campaign, all "green" OK, Good check-marks on the eight safety, electrical, and power-train items. But then there's a " ! MAINTENANCE IS DUE" flag, in bright red. The email then lists five to-do items, among them, engine oil and filter, rotate tires, replace climate control air filter, replace air cleaner filter, and replace spark plugs (Iridium coated).
My car less than 3000 miles on it and is less than six months old. Spark plugs? Really?
So I hopped onto the Genesis owners site and, after turning off their "we're watching your driving habits" feature, checked what service they're suggesting. Which is nothing. Nothing at all.
Helpfully, there's a place where you can detail service you provided for your car. Presumably you'd use this to note that you changed the oil at the corner service station, or by yourself, and record it for posterity. You know, in case the engine goes bad as has been happening with Hyundais. So I noted in there that I checked the oil and other fluids (which I do, usually every-other fill-up... it take my mind off the cost of gas), and the tire pressure (which I do, at the very least seasonally, since the ambient temperature isn't in the high 90s anymore).
I wanted to mention this in case someone has greater insight to this. I think it's just a sad attempt to scare me well before Halloween.
