Getting familiar with the group...
There are many threads on this . . . so I thought I'd start another, taking as given that if the car is to be driven in snow, winter tires are mandatory, and there are several good ones available. Given that, are the following points about right?
1. There is no major downside to 18" v. 17" snows, although 17" are marginally preferable if also buying new wheels.
2. Changing tires (vs. dedicated wheels) does not affect tire longevity and is primarily a convenience choice.
3. If a second set of wheels is acquired, TPMS sensors, while obviously preferable, are optional in the sense that the warning light will be on but vehicle operation will be unaffected as long as tire pressure is properly maintained.
Am I missing anything?
Thanks,
