  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Folks, my 2015 5.0 , which has been pretty reliable, came up with a problem yesterday that I can't figure out how to procced with.
My wife was starting the car up, went to open the sun roof and heard a cracking sound. she then tried to shut it and heard another crack. At this point she left it alone and let me know there was something wrong. When I found it the plastic pieces that work the wind screen up/down at the front of the sun roof opening were broken into pieces, and some of the pieces were missing beacause she drove the car ~ 20 miles after the incident, and before I saw it.
So... I removed the wind screen and the associated left and right brackets that the up/down mechanism for the wind screen uses (what was left of it).
Now, upon operation the sun roof moves backwards no problem, but when I attempt to close the sun roof it moves forward to a point about 3 inches from closing, stops and the goes back to full open.

I've looked around for sensors I might be able to fool so the sun roof will close all the way, but cannot see anything.
I've searched this forum and you tube, but nothing good yet.

Anyone have insight on this issue. FYI..I can fix stuff, so I'll probably avoid going into the dealer (except maybe to buy parts) at all costs.
Thanks

I got the sun roof to close, but it moves slowly and it's not repeatable in closing...sometimes it stops, which makes me think its a resistance issue...the motor stops if there is too much current drawn perhaps. Anyways, there are some "tilt adjusters" that run up and down the rails of the sun roof, which maybe bad. This is a related youtube video :
So, I have to decide if I want to go at this and risk all the collateral damage :) Any insights would be appreciated.

I'm having the same issue with my 2015 sedan went to open the sunroof it open but it won't close took it to the dealership they had to shove it closed and then told me it's $5500 because the whole unit needs to be replaced. I have a letter that I written to Hyundai Genesis. Apparently this has been an ongoing issue with this roof on this model. The dealership here in Florida told me they did six of them last week, if you find out anything I'd appreciate it
