  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2018 Genesis g80 sport, I have had it approximately 10 months. Well I have had a number of problems with it, ranging from alignment issues, headlights being misaimed, Radeon software issues, I am now seeing a sunroof issue.

I noticed about a week ago that while I'm driving it was taking a longer amount of time to close my sunroof on a call would come in. Then tonight it would open at a normal speed however when it went to close it would close very slowly stop and reverse approximately 3-4 in. it didn't matter how many times I hit it forward and continued to pop back open I would never make it more then 60% closed. I will contact the dealer about it tomorrow, has anyone else seen this before. I saw one of the thread about someone being killed that their motor was misaligned and needed replacing. I'm surprised for vehicle less than a year old that something like a moonroof would go out already.I love this car however the glitches are starting to really Mount up. I'm beginning to wish that I had least the vehicle so I wouldn't be stuck with it for such a long time. And I am not sure if I will return to the brand after this vehicle. Although my first problem was buying a managers vehicle on discount. Not worth the money.

The track likely needs to be greased, if you are like me and drive with it open most of the time, it seems to accumulate a lot of dirt on the track, wiping the dirt off removes the grease. I've noticed that the G80 seems to get a lot more soot and dirt in the track than other vehicles I have owned, likely because of the size of the roof.

I've made it a habit to grease the tracks a couple times a year on past vehicles that have experienced this..

My G80 Sport started with this issue about 3 weeks ago as well.. I used some rubbing alcohol to clean the track with the roof open and applied some Lucas Oil 10533 White Lithium Grease very liberally and that issue went away, the rattle I have however will take a dealer to address, it seems one of the rear bump stops inside the track is loose or broken and vibrates and rattles when the roof is open.

Happened on mine without being used much. After a few times in which it seemed to struggle, it stuck in open. The dealer had to remove it; reinstall the rails (or put new ones in). Still seems to be sluggish. I'll have to ask the dealer why they didn't suggest Mr. Incredible's solution the last time I was in.

I leased my same model/build Genesis & had same exact problem with Sunroof in 1st year as well. Everytime I brought it in, it wasn't doing the thing I was complaining about, & for myself, too it was such a sporatic problem- annoying, but just other day it finally came to a big problem. It was closing super slow, then didn't close at all until I played with it for 30 min. I eventually got it to close, & due to rain this season where I live, I haven't tried my luck with it again.
I was wondering if you got it fixed? Would LOVE to know what actually fixed it, if you did so I don't get ripped off when I go in to get repaired in a few weeks. Especially since if it decides to work after a few weeks of not using it, I can reference your issue (unlikely a coincidence since we have same year & model). - Sage :)
