In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Driving home last night I opened the sunroof to enjoy the fresh air. The wind was buffeting like crazy, so I'm interested to know has anyone installed a wind deflector on their Gen??? Pics are appreciated.

I had a similar problem as the wind deflector was loose. Your dealer will gladly tighten the bolts or you can do it yourself.

A supplemental bubble type wind deflector is not required IMO.

Thanks for the advice...I'll check into that.

I had aftermarket Bubble Type wind deflectors on cars in the past, and I won't do it again. Even though they have a rubber base, they still mark the paint where they touch the roof. The first time, I installed it for looks, however I found that there is no improvement over the moonroof open, without the deflector. Not worth it.

Make sure the movable stock deflector pops up when you slide the moonroof back. You can either check it from outside the car, or from inside the car, just reach up and forward with your hand and see if the stock deflector can be pulled down. If you can pull it down, and it springs back up when you let go, it is working correctly.

I was soooo depressed when I opened my roof for the first time going down the road. The wind made such a squeeling whistle that I had to close it.
Same problem the second time I tried it. I then reached up and pushed down on that spring loaded bar and the noise stopped!! When I got home I thought I'd wire that thing down permenently, when I saw the blue protective tape still on it from shipping. duh. I removed the tape and everything is quiet now. joy. Hopefully it's something simple for you too.

I think you might wanna get your deflector checked out.
I thought the sunroof on the Genesis is one of the quietest.
No buffeting during city driving.
Haven't tried the highway though.

This thread seemed to end without a great deal of fanfare....has anyone installed the deflectors and LIKE them? it seems most say 'not worth it'? How about the window deflectors? seem to maybe allow the windows to be cracked in summer? not needed?

thanks

See? Another disadvantage of sunroofs. If they weren't part of an option package I'd never have one. I have been forced by option packages to buy a sunroof for my last several cars but have never opened one of them. I'll admit to being a senior citizen now, but I never liked them when I was a junior citizen either.

Just refreshed my "For Sale" post. I've got a factory "in the bag" that came with my 4.6.

Purchased and installed a wind deflector for the purpose of leaving it open an inch or two to let out the heat, since I live in south Florida. It works great for this purpose!

Thanks Stewart....so you installed the Window 'wind deflectors'? Not the Sunroof deflector? Do you have Pics.....in South Fla the function might outweigh the form? how do you think they look? thanks

sun roofs help us alot isn't that guys..............i too am enjoying driving with out that roof
i mean sun roof open

No, I installed a "roof" wind deflector. I live in south Florida and this allows me to open the roof a couple of inches when the vehicle is parked and insures that the heat escapes and I don't get rained on inside the vehicle. It works great with the roof fully opened while driving, no wind noise!
