The 2010 Genesis Coupe is the first rear-wheel drive sports car of the Korean car manufacturer Hyundai. And while we all unabashedly stuff our faces as we watch Superbowl XLIII, Hyundai has paid a rather hefty sum, 6 million big ones, to enthrall us with two 30-second spots.
Daredevil Rhys Millen--former stuntman, Formula D champion, Pike’s Peak world record holder and a master of drifto has been handpicked to take this baby, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, to new drifting heights. The most hyped of this two-part commercial effort is when Millen will apply his driving prowess to make the sports coupe perform choreographed moves to the musical renderings of Grammy-winning cellist extraordinaire Yo-Yo Ma. A second musical talent will be introduced in the subsequent 30-second spot, which will feature re-edited precision driving footage matched to a completely distinct soundtrack. The motor company also plans to have folks splice parts of the ‘The Epic Lap’ shoot online to create an ‘Epic Lap’ of their very own—très cool stuff.
