In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Fully Adjustable Coilover Kits provide the ultimate in suspension technology for your street or track car. 16 levels of dampening adjustment allow you to fine tune the ride to your handling and comfort needs. The dampening adjusts compression and rebound simultaneously for ease of adjustment.

After many months of R&D, HSD Coilovers for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe are finally ready. Sedan versions will follow soon. HSD is the most popular coilover brand for the Genesis

We have been helping BC Racing prototype a set also. Good company as well.

Might have to look into that when the sedan version comes out!

I heard that BC Racing was working on coilovers for the sedan. It's cool that you've been involved. I was told that they might be available by Spring 2011. Do you have any other info on that??

I don't have any other info. I don't think I'm allowed to show pictures yet either. I'll check. They're having to make some adjustments so I'll test them when they come in.

I was hoping these would have been out by now but Stance makes a set of coilovers for the sedan which I have on order and should get by the end of the month. I have Ark's on now but I feel that they have really fallen off since having them installed. I'm already max'd out on the damping in front because they keep fading. Looking forward to seeing how the Stances will work.

Where did you score the Stances from?

I got the Stance's from a place called Intense Power but they are actually being shipped to me from Stance. Here's the URL http://intensepower.com/stgrcohygese.html.$1165 once you add them to the cart plus free shipping. That's about a $400 savings from what I paid for my ARKs.

selling the arks?

I'm not looking to sell them at the moment. I want to get the Stances and break them in a bit before I make any decisions on which set I like better. I'd be happy to keep you posted though if I do decide to part with them.

Sure thanks. Im thinking about getting the stance also :)

Hey Jast,

Have u put on the STance COs yet?

No, I haven't received them yet. I've been going back and forth trying to get an actual delivery date on them. I was supposed to have received them at the end of June.

Keep you posted.

Will coilovers solve the ride problem that everyone complains about?

I'm not sure what everyone's problem is actually. I wrote a pretty detailed take on my view of OEM suspension versus aftermarket coilovers. It's at http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=5880.

If it's a rough ride that is your problem, then coilovers may or may not help. It will also depend on whether you run larger diameter wheels with low profile tires as I do. This is going to provide a ride quality where you feel much more of the road, the good and the bad. I find that the ride and balance of the car is best with extra weight. It rides best on a full tank of gas. The weight seems to settle the car in.

My car is lowered quite a bit as well and I have my coilovers set to a stiff setting which I like. I've never had them on a comfortable setting so perhaps that would provide the type of ride people are looking for. As long as the manufacturer has done their work and thoroughly tested their product, then hopefully they will have produced a good ride.

Unfortunately, for now at least, the number of available aftermarket options is very limited. I have ARK racing coilovers on my car now and have a set of Stance GR+'s on order. At one point, BC Racing was supposed to have a set available but I don't know what happened to them.

Good luck!

If you find the ride of your '09-'11 too stiff...there is precious little you can do. Buying a "softer" tire helps but just a bit. I was so unhappy with the ride (and very little support for this issue from either Hyundai or an aftermarket company) that I was looking to rid myself of the vehicle six months after buying it. Although Hyundai will not provide help for the '09 - '11 Genesis they where listening to the chorus of complaints and changed the suspension for 2012. Yes Mark 888 (the forum's "suspension historian") the second change of the original '09 suspension. I bought a 2012 Genesis and I love the ride! The ride is still pleasantly firm but they have removed the harshness over uneven surfaces. Its as if someone found the "taut"control and turned it down a half turn and that has made all the difference. The 2012 is a pleasure to drive. My previous 2010 Genesis was a car I tolorated...life is too short to tolorate a new car. jastyrl you might not know what everyone's problem is but certainly you are aware that many of us had a problem with the car. You apparrently enjoy cars that let you feel every bump in the rode. Great! I didn't and after reading this forum for the last year I know that I wasn't alone. My new Genesis is perfect. I find the ride is just right. For me this is the car that the Genesis was meant to be all along. Most of the people who dislike the suspension simply want a choice...make it stiff as hell for the sports car fan and not so stiff for everyone else. I assume jastyrl that's why the constant question "does it change the ride" and I think they mean does it soften the ride...apparrently the question has been but put to often because it appears you have become irritated. Patience please. People are just looking for a way to make a good car even better.

I think that we have a miscommunication here. I'm not in any way irritated by the question and I'm not sure what in the world may have indicated that I am. Quite the opposite. I welcome questions and enjoy responding if I can provide anything of value to someone else.

After re-reading my reply I'm assuming the irritation you are referring to is me saying "I'm not sure what everyone's problem is actually", and I can see why you might have thought that. The original question posed to me was:
Will coilovers solve the ride problem that everyone complains about?
My response was only stating that I literally did not know what all the various complaints(or problems) were in response the question I was being asked. Perhaps I should researched what all the complaints were first and then I may have been able to answer differently. I was only referring to problems with the ride, not saying there are problems with the individuals who have made complaints about their ride.

This is often the problem with text based communication. You can't decipher the context in which something is being said if it may be written in a way that can have more than one meaning. You may even read this reply and determine that I am upset or angry but that is not the case.

If I wrote my previous reply in a manner that in any way seemed negative then I apologize as this was never the intention. Heck, I added a bunch of additional information, provided a link to a more detailed post I wrote with even more information and signed off with "Good Luck!" Where does anyone determine there is irritation in that?

Anyway, let's not turn this thread into something other than good information about our cars. I just wanted to clear up the fact that I am happy to help and have answered many questions over and over again and never has it been a problem. I'm glad you are happy with the ride of your 2012 Genesis and I am happy with mine as well although I'm sure both our expectations for what a good ride is are no doubt different.

With that, @guffeyp I hope that you didn't feel that I was being negative and I hope that my post provided some kind of valuable information to you. Feel free to ask me any questions about my experiences with the Genesis and I will be more than happy to answer.

It's not a problem. Your response did help. I was just curious because it seems like the main difference between years is the suspension. This could save people money and provide the exact stance people want, if it solved the ride. Also, like you said you have more selection preferences on the ride.

Yes, apparently the difference is between the various years. I have a 2009 which is considered to have the most problem I believe but unfortunately I can't comment on it since I don't have anything to compare it to other than what others say. Also, I changed the ride characteristics of my car early on by first changing to larger diameter wheels and tires and then by adding lowering springs and finally coilovers. I did so only for looks and performance and not because I was experiencing any kind of ride issue in particular.

While I can comment that the ride has changed with performance coilovers, I can't say that it necessarily fixed anything. It's just different. It's inherently stiffer and more responsive to road conditions because they are a performance part. If you are interested in a more comfortable, stock ride that doesn't have the issues that people have mentioned, then coilovers may not be the answer. You may instead look into what the changes to the later model suspensions are and upgrade to those pieces.

I know there are threads that talk about upgrading the suspension to at least 2010 or 2011 specs and perhaps there's one for 2012 as well that lists the differences and the part numbers. I can only imagine that the changes to even the 2012 come only in the form of dampers and springs with different spring rates and damping than it's predecessors. Maybe also different sway bars. If so, it should be easy to purchase those parts and install them on your car although someone else with more knowledge about the exact changes may want to chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

To sum it up though, it all comes down to the type of ride you are looking for as we all have a different opinion of what that ride should be. I am used to a more performance type of ride and therefore, something like coilovers are good for me. Also, if you plan on lowering your car at all, then coilovers are the answer. If you just want a luxury type ride, then sticking with the OEM equipment would be the way to go.
