  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've searched the forum for info but now I'm even more confused.....I have a 2014 R-Spec, and am wondering if my suspension is interchangeable with other model years.

From what I gather, Hyundai upgraded the suspension after the 2012 model year (I think?). Assuming so, the 2009-2012 is grouped together, and the 2013-2014 is grouped separately?

So basically, no aftermarket coilover for the 2009-2012 will fit a 2013-2014? Please let me know if I have that correct. Thanks in advance.

2012-2014 suspension is the same.

However, the only difference between any of the 2009-2014 suspensions is spring rates, shock/strut rates, and stabilizer bar diameter differences, so after-market parts for any year would probably fit. The basic parts look the same to the naked eye. But not heard of a lot success with after-market suspension parts for Genesis sedan.

A member just put on the '12-'14 suspension on his pre-'12 Genny and it was a direct swap.

Thanks all. I have seen many posts with people saying that the mid-generation suspension upgrade made the parts non-interchangeable. With so few options for aftermarket bits out there, it's nice to know "one size fits all". :)

I don't recall any posts like that (not saying there weren't any). If you find one, please provide a link to the post.

Never heard that either. Should be a direct swap.

OK, here's the thread that originally got me confused:

http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=13478

The OP asks for suspension options for a 2013+. Then he goes on to say that Megan Racing coilovers don't fit. So my assumption was that the Megan's were produced specifically for the 2009-2012 models and not the 2013-2014. So it looks like the OP was mistaken?

Thanks again for all the helpful info.

I have no idea about Megan coilovers. The Hyundai OEM suspension parts are interchangeable from 2009-2014 and you would "probably" would not be able to even notice the difference between the model year suspension parts just by looking at them (except maybe rear stabilizer is a little thicker, but now hollow).

The original 2009 suspension was so stiff, that no one wanted anything stiffer. No one.

Agreed. My 09 is pretty tight.

I do appreciate the handling greatly, but there are some days I wish I had a softer suspension in the rear end. About 1/7 days
