  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

All of a sudden most of the system options on the screen of my 2011 Genesis 4.6 are disabled. The system works but, for example, I cannot zoom in or out on the navigation screen or change some audio options. My guess is that I hit some combination of buttons/keys that disable many of the systems options. Looked through the manuals, but didn't find anything on this. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix?

Not sure what system you have but I'll guess/bet it's the Tech package. If so, it sounds like the rotary DIS knob may have failed. Are the disabled functions all related to turning or using the DIS control knob?

A couple folks have experienced DIS knob failures; that whole switch panel gets replaced. One forum member speculated the reason his failed could have something to do with how rapidly he spun it. No idea if this is the case or not but, like his "I don't do that anymore" practice, I don't put high forces/torques into the control knob - don't abuse it.

It's been a while since I've read about DIS knob failures; most of them were in the first year or two of production. The swap-out doesn't take the service department long to do... once the replacement parts arrive. GETTING the parts sometimes took a while; one dealer raided a new car on the lot to satisfy a customer.

Thanks, mikec.

You are correct, it affects only those functions that require rotating the DIS control knob. Toggling up and down and left and right are not affected, only rotation. I guess I'll be visiting the dealer.
