  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2010 Genesis V6 sedan and I am wondering if I can add a Tech Package to this car which has a premium package in it now. What else do I need to know? What I want to do is add the easy access memory seat facility.
Thanks.

What you're asking takes a pretty detailed knowledge of the wiring & electronics boxes. Not something many non-Hyundai engineers know in the first place, let alone all the variations between the models - owners that have looked this stuff up generally only look for their particular trim/package level.

sign up on www.hmaservice.com (it's free) where you can access the same service manuals and Technical Service Bulletins as the dealers. Go to the service manuals section (top/left pull-down menu) and find the "body electrical system" section. That'll have the description of the seat memory stuff and what box it lives in. There are multiple computers/modules scattered throughout the Genesis; the seat memory stuff may not live in the main "Tech" package stuff (the A/V & Nav system).

The A/V and Nav functions of the Tech package would require replacing pretty much the entire stereo system.

I have the Premium Package ($2,500) and the Navigation Package ($2,000) and can tell you that the bang for the buck is very low on the Navigation Package. Not sure what the Tech package entails. The navigation package includes 18-inch tires, DVD Navigation System (GPS data base 3 years out of date when I picked up the car), and XM Traffic which is useless for how and where I drive.

Thanks. I'm thinking this is all beyond me, though I did note that my nav system does not have my four year old home on my street and I am wondering if I can update this GPS system. I did buy a Garmin for which I was able to purchase updates for $99.00 for the life of this after market unit.
Thanks.

Yeah, that's the thing with GPS factory built-ins. They are VERY expensive options that sometimes don't work as well as commodity units costing only 1/5 as much; and the data base upgrade cost is also much more money. Can we all say RIP-OFF!

Not an exclusively Hyundai problem, BTW.
