  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Guys,

could you please share on what interval is the required technical maintenance for your 2G Genesis?
Here in my country, the dealer send me first, a list of the maintenance on every 10K miles(15K kilometers) - till 100K miles(150K km). After I was deciding to buy the car and they offered me a free tech maintenance for the whole period I drive the car, the maintenance period become 20K miles(30K km) :)
As I know in EU everyone dealer is maintaining on 30K kilometers(aprox 20K miles)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The maintenance interval information should be in your owner's manual.

yes, there is a technical service described, there are US, Middle East, EU, third regions tables ...

I just wanted to understand how your dealer requires the tech maintenance.
I know to read very well, but every dealer, almost all kind of car, are maintained @ 10K miles(15K km). From Audi, Peugeot and Citroen, I know that they maintain @ 20K miles (30K km)

P.S. I didn't buy a brand new car to particularly think and read how to maintain it. for this reason is the dealer. if I wanted to maintain my car 100% by myself, I would buy an old car...

The frequency of maintenance is not required by dealers, it is required by the manufacturer (Hyundai) to maintain the manufacturer's warranty. Actually, each local Hyundai marketing organization (Hyundai Motor America, Hyundai Canada, etc) sets their own maintenance schedule since they are really the ones who offer the warranty. I am not sure about Bulgaria.

Dealers are in business to make money. One way they can make money is by selling maintenance and non-warranty repair services to owners. Therefore, what they tell you may be different than what Hyundai requires to maintain the warranty, but the maintenance should be performed at least as often as required by Hyundai. In other words, the dealer may tell you what is in their best interest, and not in your best interest.

Smirnoff, on this side of the pond we tend to trust the manufacturer more than we trust the dealer, because just as Mark said, the dealer is trying to run up the maintenance bill.
That being said, the maintenance schedule is located in section 7, and you can find the North American manual here. I know that's not the answer you want, but it's the best I can do :-).

Just to clarify, in the USA, one may purchase a car from one Hyundai dealer, and have warranty service performed at any other Hyundai dealer in the USA (there are over 800 Hyundai dealers in the USA). For the same reason, routine maintenance required to maintain the warranty, can be done by any Hyundai dealer in the USA.

In fact, the USA has consumer protection laws that specify that routine maintenance can be done by independent repair shops, and Hyundai must honor the warranty, so long as the parts used meet the manufacturer specifications. This law does not exist in every country. But warranty service is only offered by an authorized Hyundai dealer.

Normal technical maintenance for Europe is on every 30K kilometers or 1 year, this says the User manual :)

I am guessing that they specify synthetic motor oil in Europe. In the USA, synthetic is not required (although I certainly recommend it).

Along these same lines, does anyone know what kind of proof is needed to show that the services were done? The reason I ask is I want to do ALL my own services except the first which I was told will be free. Would dated receipts for oil and filters etc be sufficient? I am retired now but have been working on cars since I was 16 years old and had my own auto repair business for the 28 years before I retired. I think I know how to do a service.

If you keep receipts for the oil and oil filter, and record the date and mileage that changes were done, that will be sufficient. I keep the OEM filter box and write the info on the inside of the box (I disassemble the box).

In addition, I would recommend that you register at MyHyundai and record your maintenance activities there to provide an extra level of documentation:
