  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have built, designed, installed, and tuned many car stereo systems. I usually stay away from specifically marketed "car audio" speakers. I opt for drivers of higher quality usually Vifa, Seas, Eminence, and Dayton and source my products from www.partsexpress.com! What you would pay for a JL Audio W7 I can get a BETTER DVC sub for 120.00. It is my humble opinion that the car audio market is about bling not performance. I prefer sound quality!

Because of cabin gain (the volume of air inside of the car resonates at a certain frequency.) Dialing in a subwoofer can be very tricky so I use a CD from Bass Mechanics http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6770389 they offer individual hz wave and sweep waves so you can tune to your ear and the car; even a sweep from 40hz - 0hz

I am posting this B/C there has been allot of debate/discourse about the stock subwoofer in the TEK package (17 speaker 7.1 surround) being un desirable.

I did some testing today with the cd and the TINY 8" subwoofer will faithfully reproduce down to 24hz I think the F-3 is right about 21hz (F-3 is the point where the bass drops 3DB bellow reference point.) There is some cabin gain around 51hz but still the bass is powerful and the Q seems to be about .700 so it's quite controlled.

The more I test this system the more I am impressed with it. BTW I also make audiophile home speakers for fun......:D
