  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a close friend at a Hyundai Dealership and decided to finally test drive the new RSpec.

I was very impressed with how it felt compared to my 2012 v6. Also the new infotainment center is MUCH better looking and better functional / organized then the regular tech packages from 2012 models and below. (I wonder if this is a mapnsoft type upgrade for anyone with 2012's and below as well).

If so, I would highly recommend it, but maybe it goes with the new blue link system.

I would be crazy to go buy one though since 2014 will be available next year but I was very tempted lol.

blu link imo is a waste of money and a joke.

needs your cell phone to work and costs 100-300 a year depending upon options.

i know ATT or verizon is comming out with an ODB2 connector with its own phone built in for a monthly fee. will do most and a few different items that blulink offers. im guessing it will cost 10 bucks a month.... and its portable to any car that has an ODB2 connector.

ppp

One of the best features of BluLink is the ability to create routes/directions and send them to the car via phone; I use the feature all the time. And the "valet-watch" provides nice reassurance that the car's not being taken for a joy ride when it's being serviced or while I'm dining, etc.

I can remote start my Sonata with Blue Link. Isn't that worthwhile for winter folks?

Not me man.

Cars shouldnt be idling thats when most dmg occurs at startup.

And for 100-200 for that feature every year no thanks,

Do you have a source for that? That's an interesting fact I have not heard before. I'm curious to read more about that.

Ah yes, that's a debate almost as old as the internal combustion engine;) Going in the same vein as regular vs. premium for gas mileage, regular vs. synthetic oil, etc. etc.:p

Or turn on the trails/breadcrumbs feature on the navi.

...and for that ol' idlin' debate, see here: http://autorepair.about.com/b/2009/02/08/is-idling-bad-for-your-car.htm

and make up your own mind.

My "thing" about remote starting is the damage done if you have a problem and you're not there to shut the car off.

You park it, go in to work, radiator/hose starts leaking and you start it up 8 or 10 hrs. later to warm up before you drive home. How long is it going to idle before something is damaged if the antifreeze has leaked down far enough?

What if the oil cooler line started leaking and you weren't there to shut it down when the oil pressure didn't come up to normal/cold readings?

Pretty much all remote starters have a timer (20-30 minutes usually). So that if the car is started, but isn't driven or keys put in, it will automatically shutdown.

I look at it the other way. Someone puts a carbomb under the hood of your car. You remote start from inside your office and prevent yourself from getting blown to bits :p yes red text has meaning.
