  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Sal,

We are going to replace a 19' Santa Fe that has been an amazing car for us. We haven't had an ounce of issue out of it until it started burning oil at about 65k miles. It's the 2.0L turbo theta II that has the same infamous issues as previous versions of Hyundai's engines.

That leads me to my concern regarding Genesis..... We are looking at the GV70 and my only real questions is do we get the 4cyl or the 6cyl. I know from reading that the Genesis engines don't seem to have the same issues as Hyundai but I am still a bit concerned about the 4 cylinder, although I think it would be plenty of engine in the GV70.

Thoughts?

What year GV70 are you thinking about buying? Brand new or what model years? I'll see if I can find any information that might not be readily accessible online.

We will buy new (2026) and are looking at the Advanced trim level. Our only real question is the 2.5L or 3.5L. As I said, the 2.5 would work for us but I just don't want a "Hyundia" engine issue. While the warranty is great on the Genesis, and Hyundia for that matter, I don't want to have to deal with a problem even if it is covered under warranty.

Thanks
